The good news is you deserve to feel better and I can help you do this. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Iowa and Kansas. I'm also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. My practice supports those who want to create a richer, more meaningful life by reducing stress, anxiety, depression and fear. I will help you create a greater sense of self confidence and purpose. Since 2006, I've been helping individuals with myriad challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, behavioral challenges, stress reduction, mood stabilization/regulation, crisis intervention, grief and loss, relationship problems, and resolving feelings and experiences from the past. In order to affect deep change, I integrate a number of approaches, including traditional talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Psychotherapy, meditation, EMDR Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, guided imagery, health and nutrition advice, to name a few. My goal is for you to feel supported and validated.

Families, couples and individuals impacted by trauma can find it difficulty to get the help they need. Trauma can impact a families basic ability to communicate and get along, fuel a couples difficulty to feel safe and heard by one another and erode an individuals ability to self regulate. It is common to feel stuck and more often than not, unacknowledged or unresolved trauma is the culprit. If you suspect there is trauma at play, holding you and your loved one back from real progress and change, real long lasting change is here.

You are probably here because the bottom dropped out and you are worried it is going to get worse. That does not feel good. But you are right, therapy is one way to turn it around. Draw the line and flip the script. The way out is through, dropping the sugar-coated language- it's going to be hard. That may sound dark, but the hope is right behind. The Tao Te Ching says: "the main road is simple, but people love to be sidetracked." Therapy relies on centralizing elements that have been minimized in daily life: listening, speaking authentically, supporting one another, slowing down, being present, and being seen.

I have immediate openings in-person or by Telehealth for pre-teens, teens and adults. Perhaps you or your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, isolation or low self-esteem. When working with clients, I assist in helping them recognize their worth and various strengths. Together we can work on addressing many day-to-day difficulties by building upon existing strengths and positive attributes.

Working with couples is my passion because I think a secure-functioning relationship can change an entire family, which impacts the communities we live in and even our world. I realize how corny that sounds but then I also would ask… how did your parents function growing up? How did that relationship impact your life and your work? How is your current relationship making your life easier and more meaningful? We all get stuck in relationships, we get tired, overwhelmed and disconnected from ourselves and our partners. It is my goal to help you find your way back to each other.

If you are struggling with anxiety and depression or self harm tendencies I would like to work with you to help teach some coping skills and use an empathetic approach to help you to start feeling better about yourself. I work best with adults but will do EMDR with children.
