As a Latino, I understand the acculturation process that immigrants experience and bring a balanced approach and insight.

My name is Michael Gilman, and I am a licensed mental health counselor, certified EMDR therapist, and certified addictions professional. I work with adolescents, teens, and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction and trauma. Additionally, I specialize in working with individuals in the field of music, theater, and athletics – both professionals and enthusiasts-helping them unlock their full potential and achieve Peak Performance.

My goal is to give time, attention and direction, focusing on what is in the best interest for my clients. I am direct, focused and insight oriented. The purpose of therapy is to create positive changes, to enhance ones sense of self and to find manageable and empowering solutions to life's challenges. I provide counseling to individuals, couples and families of varying age, gender, race and sexual orientations.

I have over 30 years of counseling experience helping those with various addictions and other serious mental health issues and their families. These conditions can also be co-occurring and significantly impair an individual's life as well as those around them. My approach to therapy is very solution focused and taps into the individual's strengths in order to help them with their weaknesses. This process occurs in an environment that is supportive yet challenging. The road to recovery is an exciting journey of renewed mental, physical, and spiritual health. I assist people to increase self-esteem and a sense of what's possible, personally and professionally. I also assist people in letting go of bad habits, limiting beliefs and to recover from traumatic types of experiences. This allows for greater motivation to do necessary tasks and important projects. As a person lets go of ideas about themselves that have negatively affected how they feel about themselves and also perceptions of how others felt about them, growth happens in every area of their life. I use a combination of Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming and for those interested, spiritual principles.
