I began practicing as an in-home (B.A) clinician. I worked with people after discharge from long-term psychiatric hospitalization. It was during that period that I received intensive training to provide Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I find DBT to be flexibly structured. The intense dialectical process has been helpful for many of my clients to achieve daily stability and also towards resolving trauma experiences. I am also trained to provide bio-feedback and neurofeedback interventions. Neurofeedback is an extremely effective research backed type of biofeedback that is useful for many mental health challenges.

Most recently, I have begun to incorporate Neurofeedback into my practice and will soon be BCIA certified.
Seeking help for the personal struggles you are facing takes courage and persistence. I learned this firsthand as a young college student away from home and facing some of my own painful life circumstances. The help I received inspired me to become a therapist and I have felt privileged to do this work ever since. I have over 20 years of experience helping adults and adolescents in individual, family and couples therapy. My approach combines the skilled listening of a well trained ear with caring, warmth and pointed questions, allowing your personal story to unfold.

Clinical neurofeedback, a form of EEG biofeedback, is a treatment tool that can facilitate psychotherapy and can help with ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety/panic, PTSD, sleep difficulties, and other problems.
My mission is to help you to explore your life experience, to come to better know your true self, and to become empowered to enjoy your best possible quality of life. Realizing and building upon inner strengths - and courageously working through difficulties within the safety of a therapeutic relationship - are important to this process. I work in a primarily psychodynamic, integrative way based upon each person's individual needs and goals, whether related to relationships, trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, identity, life transitions, somatic symptoms, ADHD, problematic or self-defeating behaviors, or other issues.

Neurofeedback addresses problems with mental health from an entirely different direction — by training our brains to better self-regulate.
Are you new to therapy, and looking for the most advanced neuroscience-based interventions available? Or have you tried talk therapy and made progress, but ultimately felt that it wasn’t enough? Have you returned to using alcohol or other drugs despite your best efforts in recovery? What if there were a way of reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, trauma and attention problems that could complement talk therapy and medication? A new approach to treatment called “neurofeedback” yields promising results of this nature.

Many of my clients are children who struggle with:* Attention and Learning Issues *Anxiety, Sadness or Mood Swings * A hyper sensitivity to people and the environment. Traditional therapies include medication or "cognitive" approaches. But these approaches do not directly address the fact that often the brain is stuck in an unsuccessful pattern that the conscious mind may not be able to change. My program integrates psychotherapy and coaching with Brain Biofeedback (Neurofeedback) to change these brain patterns and increase calmness, balance, and self regulation. To learn more about the Inner Act program and Neurofeedback, please visit: www.inner-act.com.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in Connecticut, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in Connecticut listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
