Welcome! I work with adults who struggle in with day to day functioning due to anxiety, depression, grief and loss of a loved one. I also specialize in adults with late diagnose ADHD or Autism, or both. My ideal client seeks a safe and understanding therapeutic space, one that respects and embraces their neurodivergent identity while providing tools to cope with life's complexities.

I have 25 years of experience addressing trauma, stress, youth issues, childhood abuse, physical and sexual violence, self-esteem, anxiety disorders, identity, grief and loss, posttraumatic healing, and recovering from mass casualty events and targeted violence. That means I am here for the typical life struggles that people face, and I can handle the really heavy stuff.

I now offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. Check out my website for more information. Talking about painful childhood memories doesn't nearly resolve those long lasting wounds. I use non traditional and holistic methods. It is not talk therapy! It is a multimodal approach to help people resolve strong emotional reactions such as Anxiety and Depression. The processing of  memories is best done in connection with others. You are not alone. I have been there! This is my number one credential.

Change is hard for most of us, especially when dealing with transitions (think birth, death, relationships, jobs, moving, illness, coming out, etc). Few humans navigate these with ease. Many people benefit from help at these times. I act as a guide on your journey to help make the changes more manageable. My goal is to help you through challenges and set you free. I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma, general life transitions, which can make you feel stuck. I enjoy working with the LGBTQIA+ population. I find great pride in seeing my clients learn how to effectively cope with life’s uncertainties, challenges, and anxieties. I work with many modalities including ERP, I-CBT, ACT, mindfulness, Prolonged Exposure, narrative therapy, and other strength-based approaches. I work in the states of Colorado (CO) and Montana (MT) passionately working with teens and adults with anxiety, OCD, Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRB's), and depression find ways to manage their symptoms and live the life they wish to pursue. Kat received her bachelor's degree in Social Work from Salisbury University and Masters in Social Work from University of Maryland Baltimore. In the past, she has worked with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and substance abuse. She is passionate about working with LGBGTQ-IA individuals, women, and young adults (18+). Within therapy, it is her goal to work with you to create a life that has value and meaning. She recognizes the importance of creating a familiar, comfortable relationship when establishing a therapeutic relationship, which is why she always prioritizes building a connection and trust first.

Hi name is Justien, she/her/hers, and I am the owner of Soothing Sands Therapy, LLC. I specialize in working with children, adolescents and young adults. I am fascinated with how the brain works finding ways to make the growth process go as smoothly as possible. It is because of my interest in brain development that I have found alternative ways to do therapy other than talking. When we think about adolescent and adolescent years, we just want to survive it but my passion is to help others not only get through it, but thrive through those years. I teach self-regulation for anger and anxiety, treat underlying trauma, and support healthy parenting. I also help clients process their spirituality or religious background, work through the impacts of religion on mental health, and identify a personally meaningful spirituality. I offer affirming care for LGBTQ+ clients, particularly those from a religious background. Many of my clients are young adults (18-26) navigating major life transitions in their relationships, careers, mental health, values, and identity.
