Hello animal lovers! I work with children, teens, and their families for a holistic experience. A person is a whole of many parts, and therefore I tackle issues from multiple perspectives, including relationships, external, health, behavioral, and internal. I enjoy making therapy a relaxing and enjoyable experience in which I can really get to know my client and utilize their strengths. I love engaging in play therapy, art, and music to help my clients adopt healthy coping skills in a hands-on way. Also, we're ALL about animals over here. Animal-assisted therapy can help children, teens, and adults with a wide variety of issues!

I have been a clinical social worker for over 25 years. I have a broad base of knowledge and am comfortable with dealing with all types of issues. I have worked in foster care and adoptions, worked with elderly and hospice work. currently working with children with behavioral and emotional issues from Autism to Oppositional defiance. I am solution focused and realize people want to stop feeling or experiencing the issues that bring them to seek help. I have and continue to work closely with individuals who suffer with substance abuse problems.

'We do what we want' is a primary premise in the approach Karen takes to counseling, and a clear reflection and understanding of what that means to each client, is where she will begin. Karen's counseling style is based in Reality Therapy; our choices are powerful. She will help her clients to take stock of where he or she is, where they truly desire to be, and help search her client's soul to determine what he or she is willing to do to achieve success as they define it.

We help people change the way they act, think and feel about difficulties they experience in everyday life. The majority of our clients come to see us for our smoking cessation program, that comes with lifetime support. We also help people with a variety of problems such as; phobia release, weight control, skill improvement, habit changes and relaxation sessions. Many people seek us out because they want to make a change NOW. Of course, every problem can't just vanish one session. On the other hand, in one to five sessions, we often help them get where they want, or at least on the path to getting it independently.

I spent seven years as a collegiate head coach in cross country and track and field, rejoined my dream of counseling in 2020, and started our practice in 2022. My caseload is made up of 70% youth between 4 and 18, 30% adults, and about 75% men and boys, overall. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, techniques from play therapy for the youngest clients, and see couples with an assertive REBT action-oriented style.
