I’m Mark Dombeck, Ph.D, a trauma-informed licensed psychologist with 20+ years experience. I’m based in Alameda, CA, near Oakland, CA. I work with adults and seniors (not children), with individuals and couples, both in-person and online. I have three areas of specialization: 1) trauma & dissociation, 2) couples therapy, and 3) adult neurodiversity. I can help you address depression, anger, anxiety and shame issues, emotion-regulation and impulse control issues, executive functioning issues, interpersonal issues, relationship issues, personality issues, attachment issues and trauma issues.
I draw from various therapy approaches including ACT, CBT, EFT, IFS and TIST to help you. I'm able to work with complex and co-occurring or treatment-resistant issues. I understand that substance abuse and other forms of self- or other-harm may be part of the clinical picture.
My approach is compassionate and empathic but also goal-focused, active and practical. My goal is to get you to the other side of your distress as quickly as can be achieved while also recognizing that sometimes this involves addressing more than just the surface problems that have brought you to therapy.
