Regardless of your suffering, there is a way through it and because we each have our own way of processing emotional wounds, I take an individualized approach to help you transform pain into healing. I specialize in addressing trauma and grief. This includes the loss of a loved one, traumatic loss (event-related, developmental), as well as psychological symptoms associated with chronic and terminal illness. Through an integrated approach, my work is about healing the soul and finding light in the darkness despite facing life-threatening conditions afflicting the body, mind, heart, and spirit.

Through experience and my own research, I have developed an integrated approach to therapy. I begin by providing education around symptoms as well as developing collaborative goals in order to reduce severity of symptoms.

It is essentially human to crave emotional connection. Neurobiology informs us that deep emotional connections excite complex neural networks, flooding us with ecstasy-inducing dopamine and so it makes sense that we chase more. But negative emotional experiences invariably interrupt our constant searches for positive ones. And when left unattended, piles of negative emotions can lead to feelings of disconnection. What if each negative confrontation is actually a gift, merely disguised as a negative experience, that can be used to help us experience the world differently? I am a bilingual (Spanish/English), Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has extensive experience working with children and adults of all ages in various settings. I have a unique background in physical therapy which influences my specialty in neurobiological and Cognitive Behavioral approaches. I teach practical skills to manage anxiety and panic in a brief number of sessions. I also understand how trauma shapes lives and living at our best requires challenging traumas we have experienced.

I aspire to provide treatment with an emphasis on health and well-being, stress reduction, and diversity from a whole-person health perspective (physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual). I provide treatment using evidenced-based therapies using a holistic approach. As a clinician, it is important to be aware of all aspects of culture that may pertain to an individual and gain the tools and strategies to most effectively assist a person. I believe it's important to emphasize collaborative shared decision-making that creates an environment for a client-centered strength-based approach.
