I primarily work from a psychodynamic perspective that seeks to understand individuals’ unconscious motivations and desires that contribute to our conscious life. I am comfortable discussing any issue that you might bring up and can aid in helping you achieve a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Substance use disorders, eating disorders, & other destructive behaviors are often used as a way to cope with emotional distress and/or avoid pain. I help individuals heal by being curious & compassionate about the destructive behaviors to discover what purpose they serve. This often looks like assessing biological & social factors, healing unresolved trauma, grief, attachment issues, and learning new coping skills. I utilize a collaborative & holistic approach to treatment. Together, we can heal the pain, and find new ways to cope with emotional distress.

Alcohol and drug problems can be complicated, but seeking help doesn't have to be. You don't need to "hit rock bottom" to make a change. With a passion for aiding individuals in recovery, those grappling with addiction, and those navigating alcohol or substance use, I have expertise in therapy for alcohol and other drug use, harm reduction, and recovery. You might hate AA and be looking to moderate your alcohol intake, or you might be in long-term recovery but struggling to live "life on life's terms." Whatever your difficulty, I am much more openminded than your typical drug or alcohol counselor.

Chronic pain and illness, sleep problems and sexual addiction and food problems are my specialties. I have over 40 years of experience, an advance certification in compulsive sexual problems and I am a certified weight loss specialist. I also have extensive training in treating anxiety and depression as well as problems in relationships. I am extensively trained in treating chronic pain and sleep problems through hypnotherapy and brief solution focused therapy. I have worked in Europe, India and the United States.

As an autistic person, my treatment is embedded in a philosophy of affirming care that respects neurodiversity and differences. I have an affinity for providing services to LGBTQ+ teens. I work collaboratively to figure out each individual's goals and treatment needs. My clients have often felt misunderstood, unseen, marginalized, or have struggled with substance abuse. In our work together, I seek to provide clients with an experience of repair: if I don't understand, I will clarify and try harder. If I mess up, I will apologize. And I will always do my best to see the person sitting in front of me.

Fear and a misunderstanding of what psychotherapy is, is often what keeps many people from getting the help they so desperately need. I have worked with adolescents, adults, seniors, and the LGBTQ community. I have experienced working with clients in private practice, inpatient and forensic settings whom have struggled with trauma, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and various personality disorders. Clients are often thankful for the help and support that they experience and wonder why they didn’t get the help sooner.

As of 4/22/24 I am accepting new clients. My approach shaped by own experiences and recovery, is grounded in harm reduction and mindfulness. Recognizing that traditional abstinence-only methods don't resonate with everyone, I've developed a practice that embraces each individual's unique path to healing. Integrating the practical framework of harm reduction with the transformative power of mindfulness. This allows clients to engage with their challenges in a non-confrontational, present-focused manner, fostering greater self awareness and acceptance.

I strongly believe in the practice of: embracing personal growth, enhancing performance, and enriching one's passion.I am curious about finding ways to enhance one's "heart" and inner drive that leads to greater sense of empowerment. While pushing oneself to their physical limits one can begin to understand the importance of mental strength.
