I am a published author who has presented my research on group psychotherapy nationally and internationally. I am also a licensed massage therapist who practices mind/body work. As a past board member with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and a past member of APA's Task force on severe mental illness, I am an advocate for individuals and families who struggle with the stigma associated with these disorders. In practice for over 40 years, I have a great deal of experience with adolescents, adults and couples. Retired as high school social worker, I've worked with hundreds of adolescents and families. It is my belief that emotional energy is finite and that helping you in achieving balance can be so very helpful in finding solutions to emotional distress. I am a psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience providing individual therapy and couples counseling to adults. My nonjudgmental approach, which entails kindness, empathy, and support coupled with honest and direct feedback, leads my clients to feel safe and understood - vital to successful therapy. In addition to depression and anxiety, relationship issues are a primary focus of mine, whether that involves dissatisfaction with a current relationship, frustration with establishing relationships, or trauma-related experiences with others.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Earlham College and Master of Arts in Counseling from Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Trained in Integrative Systemic Therapy at Northwestern University, I am most passionate about working with couples and individuals (older teens, young adults, adults) presenting with various needs, concerns, and presentations. These include depression/anxiety, trauma, complex PTSD, attachment issues, codependency, life transitions, and relational conflict.

I obtained my master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Wheaton College and describe myself as a "systems thinker."
