As a therapist, I am most excited to see clients motivated to explore their unknown strengths, widen their horizons, increase their abilities to make informed decisions and lead a life of meaning as they define it. Everyone I have worked with brings to therapy a foundation upon which to grow. Regardless of the problem, an enhanced sense of self is possible. Instilling hope of something better in life is one of my greatest motivations, and assisting others in achieving their goals drew me to this profession.

My name is Samantha Wright-Cooksey, MSW, LCSW. I have been a therapist for over 20 years with combined experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families. I have provided professional services in outpatient, home, community and school-based settings. I have worked in addictions as well as end of life issues. I utilize strength-based and solution focused techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and problem solving skills training. I offer in person and telehealth options for therapy. I accept most insurance, EAP, and self pay options.

I specialize in helping those with anxiety, depression, & relationship issues. Whether it is a relational, work, school, or family issue, talking about it with someone often aids in clarity and change. I want to help those individuals/families who are struggling to make sense of the chaos, look for understanding insight, and make those changes that will help them to start feeling more hopeful and excited about life again.

Perhaps you feel stuck in the past, worry about the future, or have important relationships which may be contributing to your stress. There are many reasons why we begin to struggle. We may have unprocessed traumas, difficult life situations, or genetic predispositions which impact our bodies and/or ability to cope in a healthy way. We may feel lost or not acting in line with how we want to be. Sometimes we don't know where to start. Many of us feel this way. You are not alone.

My ideal client would be someone who is committed to their healing journey and willing to reach their mental health and personal goals. My clients would be ones who may have anxiety, depression, substance use/abuse issues, and crises.

My ideal client is someone who acknowledges a problem exists, even if they don’t quite know what it is. The source of that issue can be discovered and processed through therapy, leaving the client with effective tools and skills to cope with and manage their emotions.

My ideal client is someone who wants to actively pursue new paths to find their true, healthy self. Ideally, ready to do the work. I am here to challenge cognitive distortions. I will be a partner in brainstorming issues and goals. Hard work from the client and support from an intuitive counselor will clear the path to the answers within.

I enjoy helping neurodiverse individuals improve their mental health and navigate challenges such as late ADHD or Autism diagnosis. My focus is on enhancing executive functioning, fostering support systems, boosting social confidence, and assisting clients in self-advocacy at school, work, and healthcare settings. I also find satisfaction in guiding clients toward more fulfilling careers with better work-life balance.
