Life is often difficult and I want to assist people in finding a greater understanding and practical solutions in their lives that ultimately lead to greater happiness.

My goal as your therapist, is to help you become the best version of yourself that you can be. We will work together to get through whatever it is that you may be dealing with - anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or anything else that could be disrupting your quality of life. My approach is person-centered and non-judgmental. I specialize in working with substance use disorders but also have experience working with many other mental health disorders.

It's tough to be a kid or teen right now and it's tough to parent a kid or teen. The more motivated a young person and their family are to improve, the more successful we are in therapy. It will go best when everyone is (1) honest enough to really get to know themselves, (2) empathetic enough to care about the effects their choices and actions have on others, and (3) brave enough to do things differently so they can feel better, have healthier relationships, and enjoy more successes.

Different people need different things at different times in their lives. For the most part, my style is person-centered, which feels more like two friends talking. We take the time to get to know one another, your unique interests and what makes you tick. We utilize this information to personally tailor our time together.

Many of my clients have struggled with various forms of anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions and past trauma. Many of my clients have been women of color navigating challenges with family, work, grief, parenting and relationships, while attempting to cope with the stressors that come with these roles. Often, these clients are attempting to be the best version of themselves, and want assistance in identifying and strengthening ways to thrive, rather than merely survive.

I have always believed in a holistic life / treatment model. I have thirty five years of experience in diverse therapeutic environments and with a large variety of people and issues. I often tell clients the reason I come to work is because I believe that I and you can change. My goal is to provide a safe space where you can become the person you are meant to be. I am also a licensed massage therapist , reiki master , and craniosacral therapist .

Women seek me out to help build boundaries and self-confidence while trying to manage the stressors of life. Most of the women that come to see me believe, if they can "just do a little better" then they will eventually find the perfect balance; only to find, the amount of effort they put in doesn't change their outcome. I also work with people in the LGBTQ+ community and people that love someone in the LGBTQ+ community struggling to adapt to the changes happening in their life. Ultimately, maybe you're just seeking a sense of self or belonging while dealing with emotional consequences of being rejected by toxic mainstream culture.

I provide a safe environment for clients to process their issues. I believe that psychotherapy is more than talk therapy. I am excited about the new research and treatments that focus on mind and body (somatic memories). I have an integrative approach to therapy. I work best with complex trauma (emotional and physical, including childhood neglect) and resulting anxiety and depression. I work well with grief related issues (complicated grief) and problems that arise from chronic illnesses.

Contemporary society can be isolating and alienating. We all experience difficulties that leave emotional scars. Even our successes come with stress and anxiety. When our energy is focused on achievement and perfection, we lose or deny our authentic selves in that striving. If compelled to live outside our actual values, we may lose our sense of meaning or purpose. I provide individual therapy for adults navigating life transitions or coping with work, family, or health challenges. I have training and experience working with clients who’ve experienced trauma.

People seek me out because they find their current situation intolerable - they are sick and tired of experiencing shame, intense anger, depression and anxiety. Perhaps they want to work on their addiction - the thing they use to numb the painful experiences. Their relationships are suffering as a result of their behaviors, being closed off, or "too much" for others. Many struggle with feelings of inadequacy, perfectionism and a deep sense of futility, which prevents them from taking charge of their lives and confidently pursuing their heart's desire.
