I believe that every person, regardless of what psychological issues they are dealing with, has the potential and ability to work through their struggles, when given the tools to do so. I utilize the recovery model approach that supports a hopeful and non-judgement understanding of an individual’s challenges. I believe that a person should never feel defined by their mental health issues, and that change is ALWAYS possible. I help people find solutions by using appropriate therapeutic tools, and by building on individual strengths.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of clinical expertise. I am trained in treating mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, adjustment, life transitions and alcohol and substance addiction. I work closely with psychiatrist, physicians, and other counselors to maintain continuity of care with the ultimate goal of achieving your optimum well-being.

There is often an overwhelming feeling, event, or life transition that brings someone to therapy, and, usually, that's only after they've tried to run away, ignore, or just push through "it." It’s not that you aren’t trying hard enough. You need support, and that’s ok. My goal is to support you through the process of healing and finding yourself again or for the first time. I often use EMDR to help clients reprocess traumatic or difficult experiences, to find relief from the symptoms that have been troubling them recently or for years.

My specialties of couples therapy, aging clients, divorce adjustment and coparenting, and men's issues. . Most couples who attend will seek to improve their relational skills such as better communication, revitalized positive emotions toward each other, or to resolve conflicts. Frequently, families going through divorce will also seek support to deal with the challenges from resolving parenting or co-parenting issues, or improve live changes. For years I have worked with men's issues which range greatly from relational problems to attaining their goals of identity.

Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, feeling down, negative thoughts, struggling with self-esteem, stress from school, or issues in relationships, I'm here to give you the support and tools you need to overcome them and thrive. We'll concentrate on ways to reach your goals, build up coping skills, and find real happiness and growth in your life.

I believe in a strength based approach which means every client has a natural strength that can be used to improve upon any situation. My goal is to help clients identify and utilize the skills they already possess. Therapy approaches I often use to achieve this goal are EMDR, CBT, motivational interviewing, etc. I enjoy working with clients who are seeking to process through trauma. We have all experienced it at least once in our lives, and I love working with clients seeking to process and overcome these experiences. I practice a judgement free environment and enjoy learning as much from my clients as they learn from me.

One of my favorite quotes is "sometimes, when you are in a dark place, you think you've been buried, but you've actually been planted". Emotional pain can be so overwhelming that we feel unable to get out of the dark places by ourselves. Trying to navigate trauma, anxiety, hopelessness and stressful relationships, can create fear, doubt and shame to take up too much space in our lives. The way to healing and restoring the body, mind and spirit can feel challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Taking time to sort things out when you’re stuck, frustrated, or overwhelmed can make all the difference. My mission is to help you get a handle on any challenges you face in relationships, work, and self-care.
