My style is casual and egalitarian. I see us as equals working together to improve the quality of your experience of being alive. In my lucid moments, I am powerfully aware that the causes of our suffering are not our circumstances, but rather how we perceive them and relate to them. Fortunately, these are things we CAN change. Thus my aim as a therapist is to help you change your moment-to-moment a p p r o a c h to being alive, regardless of circumstance. I find that if we truly change our WAY of showing up in the world, our circumstances tend to naturally change along with us.
I aim to keep you focused on what you are experiencing RiGHT NOW - which is often the very stuff that we are tempted to habitually resist or avoid. I see myself as a coach for helping you become stronger at being courageously honest & PRESENT to yourself and to life. (BTW, I am also now offering ketamine-assisted psychotherapy informed by the PRATI model.)
I maintain a spiritual (not religious) approach to life. I am critical of our society's general tendency to lull us into avoiding ourselves and our deeper feelings through addictions, "entertainment," materialism, etc. I see good therapy, in part, as one antidote to the madness of our time. (BTW, I have several canine - and one feline -co-therapists.)

"More Courage" (An Ongoing Therapy Group For Men)
As males in our dysfunctional culture, we tend to collectively face some particular challenges: Feeling truly “grown up” in the absence of adequate rites of passage, Living in integrity with our sexuality (e.g., in the age of online porn and the “me too” movement), Finding meaning beyond our work identities and consumerism, Transcending limiting (and often toxic) stereotypes of "masculinity,” Learning how to (re)-connect more deeply with ourselves and with others. We will aim to address these issues directly – as well as whatever other issues each man brings to the table. NOTE: All new members must commit to a minimum of four sessions.
