As an experienced therapist, I have dealt with a broad range of mental health issues. I work with a network of physicians, mental health providers, and spiritual advisors to provide the best care for my clients. I aim to guide clients in asking the right questions and finding answers that lead to positive and progressive outcomes in the therapeutic process. While my primary focus is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I employ other techniques as needed to help my clients achieve the change they desire.

I believe that everyone is an author of their own story. And as with any story, the main character experiences challenges they are working to overcome. I believe that we as people experience language in a way that has created the challenges we experience as main characters, and we find difficulty in writing our story past these challenges. I work together with my clients to explore their story and assist how they want to change using their existing skills and introducing others as we take a journey to reach the goals they want.

Many people come to counseling feeling stuck in certain behaviors, relational patterns, or emotional cycles, perhaps without even understanding why, or without hope of lasting change. My desire is to journey with you toward emotional, mental, spiritual, and relational wholeness. I founded Melanin Mommy Therapy with Black Women at the forefront. As a Black Women, we often identify with the feeling of failing when in reality, we are dealing with stress, anxiety, depression and so much more. Many people may look at the Black Woman and automatically place her at the bottom of the totem pole and I say that is because we as Black Women are the foundation of so much. We carry so much on our shoulders while being told to be strong and pray on it.

My perspective is that life is complicated and it's easy to get lost along the way as we face our own struggles like fear, insecurity, shame and worry. If we keep those struggles in the dark, they'll only take root and trip us up and make us start to forget truth. It's only by bringing those dark places into the light that those roots can vanish and we can see truth and grow in ways we could never imagine. It's my joy to partner with others through that process and remove the stigma in seeking help.

Our wounds are the very place where meaningful wholeness and growth can begin. In over 30 years of private practice with individuals, couples and families, I have engaged deeply in the varied ways people set out to heal. Families in crisis appreciate the active way I connect with and engage all parties in the process of change. Helping couples learn to listen with curiosity rather than react in the "same old way", more deeply understand each other, reach forgiveness or acceptance, and open up possibilities regarding desire and intimacy are all strengths in my work.
