Thank you for considering my approach to healing! I work with clients from diverse backgrounds to address sex therapy related issues (i.e. sexual "dysfunction," enhancement of pleasure, sexual identity development, etc.) and trauma related to interpersonal violence, attachment wounds, and systemic oppression. I work predominantly with sex workers, queer and trans clients, kink clients, polyamorous clients, and community organizers. Ultimately, I am passionate about helping all clients expand their view of what is possible for their lives and let go of shame.

Accepting new clients! I work primarily with LGBTQ+ people who have experienced trauma and are looking to improve their lives. This might be wanting to feel less anxious or depressed, have healthier relationships, have a deeper knowledge of yourself, or something else. I also have a particular interest in working with clients living with disabilities and chronic conditions, especially those who are "in transition" from non-disabled to disabled. I am a Qualifying WPATH Member and can provide mental health services for individuals looking for support specific to gender-related topics, like social & medical transitioning.

I consider therapy a collaborative endeavor in which client and therapist work together to process emotions, events, and behaviors in the quest to facilitate understanding and change. I enjoy working with adult individuals, couples, and groups. I have worked extensively with survivors of trauma and those suffering from PTSD. I also especially welcome those who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, LGBTQ concerns, stress management, grief and loss, infertility, or career decisions.

Hello, my name is Michael and I am Licensed Professional Counselor & Certified Professional Clinical Supervisor. For over 15 years I have worked in several community based settings to provide oversight to clinical programs and counseling services. My areas of specialties include issues of meditation and mindfulness, addictions, grief and loss, depression problems, oppositional and defiant issues for children, homelessness, spiritual connectedness, leadership development, stress management, LGBTQ issues, and trauma that impact the growth, development, and potentially impeded on one's personal growth.

You do not have to have lived through something literally life-threatening to be a trauma survivor. If you didn't get your basic or emotional needs consistently met during infancy and early childhood, you likely struggle in your adult relationships. You might be overly clingy, avoidant, or self-sabotaging with your friendships and romantic partners. Or maybe, for you, it shows up as anxiety, avoidance, dissociation, low self-worth, poor boundaries, and even self-destructive behaviors. This is called complex trauma or attachment-based trauma, and it can be healed!

I believe that we have all that we need already inside of us - therapy can be a process of uncovering those things that we’ve forgotten or unlearned. Ambivalence in therapy is not uncommon. It is a natural response, especially for people who are unaccustomed to being on the receiving end of care and support. Acknowledging the need for help can feel like a daunting task as if it is a betrayal of the very roles, you have been fulfilling. There is a discomfort that in seeking help, you might unravel, showing a vulnerability that contradicts your perceived identity. This discomfort, however, overlooks a crucial truth: vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, but rather a courageous step towards healing and growth.
