As a therapist my role is to help support and guide you to think outside of the box and embrace new ideas that promote change. I believe that you should be empowered by your therapist and feel a connection to be able to make a plan that works for your situation. I have 20 years of training in many modalities, most specifically, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Family Systems. I also use yoga, meditation and breath work into sessions when asked and needed to promote mind/body balance.

I am Summer Bowman, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, an Adjunct Psychology Instructor, and a US Air Force Veteran. I do virtual counseling with individuals and parents in private practice in Holly Ridge, NC. I have been a counselor for 8 years. My bachelors degree is in Elementary Education with ESL endorsement (K-9). While teaching in public schools, I worked on getting my Master's Degree in Psychology with a Specialty in Clinical in order to help people, especially those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

My ideal clients have a broad range of concerns, including those who have suffered domestic and/or sexual abuse, other traumatic events, mood and anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders. I can help these clients learn coping skills to gain confidence, grow resilient, accept and manage their conditions for a better quality of life. I am Dr. Hiza Jackson-Price, a Navy Veteran, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor and Clinical Addictions Specialist. I've provided both individual and group counseling to chemically dependent persons, as well as families, couples, active-duty military and Veteran populations.

Cheating, infidelity, lies, and secrets. Have you discovered that your partner has been unfaithful to you? You feel despair, hopeless, and powerless. Confusion, rage, and hurt have set in. You have been betrayed at the deepest level. You can hardly breathe. The pain is unbearable. You are not sure what is real or not. You are questioning everything. Even blaming yourself. You are asking: How did this happen? How did I not know? You need answers. You can’t sleep, eat, or make decisions. You have reached your breaking point and need someone to help you understand what has happened while you walk toward your recovery and healing.

Evolve or repeat. Therapy, by nature, can be challenging. It can appear scary, overwhelming, and anxiety-inducing; you are essentially vocalizing (to a stranger!) your challenges, weaknesses, mistakes, and insecurities. And sometimes that needs to happen to grow. My mantra over the last year has been to evolve or repeat. That’s it. Evolve or repeat. Frequently we establish and maintain patterns of thoughts and behaviors, based on past experiences and memories which are unhealthy and unproductive. I found these patterns and cycles are the root to unhappiness and barriers to change.
