Throughout our life each of us will be faced with a variety of challenges the outcome of which may profoundly affect us and those we love. I work with individuals, couples or families facing emotional pain, anxiety, depression, anger, couples issues, addiction, etc. and I assist their making discoveries that can help them create change.

Counseling can be helpful when someone needs an objective person to listen, when their normal ways of coping no longer are working, or when they simply are feeling overwhelmed & hopeless. I work with people in a supportive & non-judgmental setting to explore their thoughts, feelings & relationships & in what areas they may be struggling. Together we identify one's strengths & find new, healthier, ways of thinking & behaving & outline a plan for initiating positive change in their lives. Through this supportive therapeutic relationship, we work toward sustained improvement in their everyday functioning.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with several years of experience working with diverse populations of adult individuals and couples. Currently only accepting EMDR/Brainspotting Intensives which is 3-6 hours per day. and an out of pocket expense. My approach is holistic, with an awareness of cultural and systemic impacts on mental health. My goal in treatment is to help individuals find more effective ways to live healthier, happier, and more successful lives. What this looks like for each person depends on individualized treatment goals. I tailor my treatment approach to the unique needs and strengths of each person. I have over 30 years experience as a child and adult psychotherapist and psychiatrist. I practice primarily psychotherapy, addressing a full range of issues from emotional strains, trauma, loss and anxiety to developmental issues including autistic spectrum presentations, and psychosis. I am former Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Training Program at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia. During this time of COVID and with the myriad of changes in our world, lives become unsettled at home, in our work, in our families and in our personal relationships. I specialize in the treatment of weight and eating disorders, depression and anxiety. I provide cognitive-behavioral therapy, which focuses on helping the client to identify thoughts and emotions associated with certain behaviors, and I infuse mindfulness techniques. Through this journey, I help clients understand how and why they are responding to situations in the way that they do, enabling them to find inner peace and lead fuller, more enriched lives. I typically meet with clients on a one-on-one basis, but I am happy to schedule sessions with concerned partners, parents or other family members together with the client.

For 30 years, I have worked with adolescents and adults to improve the quality of their lives and to enhance their relationships. Depression, anxiety, work-related stress, and family/relationship issues can be resolved by working together. Couples may start treatment to improve communication and problem-solving skills as well as to explore sexual and emotional intimacy issues. My experience as a therapist has provided me with various approaches to help people better understand and accept themselves, and to develop more satisfying relationships.

An ideal client for me is someone who has difficulty managing their emotions, engages in frequent negative thinking, and has trouble communicating their needs with family and friends. They want to decrease their anxious or depressive behaviors but have little knowledge of how to begin regulating their emotions.
