A good therapist will not only use sessions to help you access your emotional intelligence, but will also help you become your own therapist so you can continue the process on your own. With that in mind, I customize each therapy to the individual with an emphasis on a solid working relationship, clear goals and a specific focus. I treat a range of issues including anxiety, depressive states, substance use issues, addictive sexual behavior, life transitions, challenging work environments and relationship conflicts among others.

If you are struggling with emotional eating, an eating disorder, anxiety or past trauma, know that healing is possible. My hope is to offer you support through the frustrations of food challenges, anxious thoughts and feeling as though your past is getting in the way of how you want to feel. You have probably tried many other avenues in order to not have food or anxious thoughts control your life. If you are ready for a new approach that provides the change you desire, together we can identify blocks to feeling your best and use the most effective technique to move through and past them.

Do you have a feeling that “something” is missing from your life and you can’t quite figure out what it is? Are you moving through each day with ruminating thoughts, fears, and feeling isolated even though you may be surrounded by people? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, there is an emotional block holding you back. The main blocks to living a full life are: fear, anger, grief, and shame. These blocks are unburdened wounds that need to be revealed and shared in order to live more fully. Together, we can chart the roadmap to unburden these wounds and get you on the path that you’ve been waiting for.

We are all faced with choices each day, and at times we can feel stuck repeating the same patterns, unsure as to why we feel anxious, depressed, or unsatisfied. Therapy can help us uncover some of the agency and authority we do have - allowing us to understand how our past experiences might be alive in the present, and how we might make different choices for our present and future. It is a process that asks you to challenge yourself and make a commitment to your well-being, and I believe that a supportive therapeutic relationship that helps you feel safe to truly examine yourself can foster immense growth.

Mental health is all too often misunderstood and discriminated against. This stigma can distort our perceptions and deter us from our need for help, keeping us from a natural unfolding and realignment. Nevertheless, your mental health should be your priority. The thoughts and worries we all experience are our own personal truths, regardless of whether our situation conforms to others’ ideas of mental health. I feel that getting unstuck in life requires a perceptual shift, wherein we stop judging our ‘issues’ as failings but through self-compassion proceed to creatively light our path.

Life can be complicated sometimes. We may feel stressed, unfulfilled, confused, or may find it hard to achieve deeper and more meaningful connections with others, even with the people closest to us. Most concerning of all may be a nagging feeling that we ourselves are unwittingly doing something to sabotage our happiness - that we are unable to break out of some repetitive, counterproductive pattern of behaving or relating that undermines our own well-being. Therapy can bring change and a more meaningful and fulfilling life, by helping you discover what you really want and how to become more effective in pursuing your goals.

Are you struggling in your relationship with family, partner, or friends? Are you feeling down, have low self-esteem, or career concerns? Or has something recently happened - a crisis, a death, or a major change? When faced with these challenges, some of the healing power comes from being able to voice it in a safe space with the support and compassion of a therapist. I'll work with you to explore what you're going through in a warm, non-judgmental way. Because we are each built differently, I apply an eclectic approach to cater to each person's needs.

Welcome. This time of global change and uncertainty makes it more crucial than ever that we have supportive connection and compassion, and we choose to love ourselves. It's my honor to work with people who want to be their authentic selves in the world (rather than who their history tells them they should be), and recognize their right to find meaning, satisfaction, and joy in living. With our relationship as a support, I'll invite you to expand your awareness, uncover childhood messages that may be limiting your life choices, explore your identity and existing roles, and guide yourself toward the self-love that is life-sustaining.

I founded SelfWorks, a group private therapy practice, in large part due to my belief that all of us have innate strengths and resiliency that often go untapped. The name SelfWorks shares our belief that in the right environment, with the right guidance, the self... works. Therapy can be like an aspirin, a treatment for the relief of your pain and symptoms. Therapy can also be approached like a vitamin, to promote continued health, while helping your mind flourish. Since it can be used in these ways, we strongly believe there is never a bad time to start therapy.

Making the phone call to initiate therapy is a very personal experience. Whatever may have led you to make the call I see this as the start towards creating a more meaningful, satisfying and purposeful life. My approach to therapy is less about identifying something "wrong" in you, but rather to provide you a safe, non-judgmental and supportive space for you to explore and challenge unhealthy patterns of perception, emotion, cognition, and behavior that have become barriers to effective functioning, satisfying relationships, and a general sense of personal well-being.

Meaningful and lasting change. Isn’t that what we’re all looking for? I am here to help those struggling with general anxiety, social phobia, mild to severe depression, or stress related disorders. If you are tired of dreading getting out of bed each morning, or wondering why you feel "this way" - I am here to help create change and turn off the "struggle switch." I work from a third wave behavioral approach (ACT) that will empower you with coping skills to overcome these obstacles. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but it can start today.

I believe people benefit most when psychotherapy offers a space that invites curiosity, empathy, and introspection. To alleviate emotional pain, sometimes we have to look inwards at our ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving. I strive to facilitate this process in the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship where those with whom I’m working feel safe, emotionally connected, and empowered. I practice non-judgmentally and with thoughtful attention to the intricacies of your primary concerns. In doing so, I can help you resolve debilitating symptoms and impart greater meaning to your experience and relationships.

Teletherapy (Online Therapy, Virtual Therapists) Therapists
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in 10001, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in 10001 listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
Therapists in 10001 are able to work with a wide range of issues. They offer in person sessions as well as Teletherapy in 10001

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counselor in 10001 you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counseling or couples counseling in 10001 and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counseling in 10001 or family therapy in 10001.
