I have over 20 years of experience helping individuals cope with stress, loss, fear, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and adjustment to life changes. I work collaboratively with clients to establish a trusting and supportive relationship, set goals for therapy, build upon strengths to increase confidence and self-esteem, and work toward resolving issues.

Therapy is a wonderful first step on your journey of discovery about yourself and your relationships. Therapy can be life changing. I am a hands-on active therapist who is not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get to work. I will seek to give you real, concrete takeaways in order to help jumpstart meaningful change. Whether it is focusing on painful feelings, trauma, relationships, difficult life transitions, creative blocks, stress, or healing from challenging life experiences, my goal is to help you discover the obstacles that block positive growth while building on your strengths.

As a clinical psychologist, I have been trained in working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds and with a range of presenting concerns. I work primarily within a relational, integrative, multicultural framework. I have had particular training/experience in treatments for anxiety/panic disorders and phobias; cognitive therapy for depression and mood disorders; bereavement/grief; immigrant populations/acculturative stress; bi-cultural/ multi-ethnic/racial identity issues; intersectionality; college students; women's issues/trauma; and coming-out issues across cultures.

I have long-term and significant experience working with various ethnic demographics, cultures, religions, including LGBTQIA and Polyamorous clientele. I offer compassion, empathy, and understanding to each and every person, and custom-tailor your treatment plan to your individual issues. Moreover, I practice an egalitarian approach meaning you will be respected as an equal partner in our work together. It is not easy being a parent, partner, earner or individual in the fast paced, competitive world of northern NJ and NYC. We can feel anxious, depressed, uncertain or lost in how we think and feel about ourselves, our relationships, our families, and our professional lives. We can want to make healthy and effective changes, but sometimes that can be hard to do alone and we need a trusted other that has the expertise to help us untie the knots we are caught in. Many of my clients are successful, but struggle with certain issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, parenting, and professional life challenges.

You often feel misunderstood, ignored, even silenced, and this prevents you from asking for what you want...for what you deserve. And, every time you think you are ready to say how you feel or ask for what you want, you realize you are just too exhausted and would rather keep your feelings to yourself to avoid conflict. Deep down you know that you are struggling with your confidence (although you may not show it on the outside). You find yourself in a cycle of unhealthy relationships but you can’t find the motivation or the courage to break the cycle. It’s time to break the cycle and speak up.

Despite feeling accomplished in their careers, my clients usually experience difficulty asking for help, perfectionism, inability to connect emotionally with loved ones, uncertainty around drinking patterns, irritability, and guilt. I assist men, adult children of alcoholics, couples, and families to develop ways to improve communication, build connection and work through difficult issues in life. I am a trained therapist in different therapeutic approaches who encourages people to grow up and to evolve towards the achievement of their needs and those of the ones she/he loves, I agree with the Socratic statement "only an examined life it is worth living." I have experience supporting clients with anxieties, panic, trauma, depression, isolation, divorce, relationship and career issues, and the grief associated with illness or loss. I am an avid LGBTQ supporter and have a deep commitment to human rights and exploring the gender spectrum as part of a healthy journey in life. I also help parents understand, support and accept children who are in the process of questioning their gender.

We are collectively experiencing trauma due to events like the pandemic, climate change, violence in our communities, and political strife. Trauma therapy techniques can help us explore how direct or indirect challenges are impacting our lives. Together, with kindness and compassion, we will gain a deep understanding of your life experience and identify, augment, and employ your strengths to the fullest. Individual growth and stability are possible when we are willing to look at all aspects of ourselves and apply that learning and understanding when navigating our lives in the chaotic world we live in.
