We can all benefit from support at times. Someone willing to listen. Someone to provide an outside perspective. We can work together to help you stay connected to your positive parenting skills, your need to find calm or perhaps work through a past trauma. You may be at the beginning of a journey, in the middle or further along. Wherever you are, connect with someone who provides encouragement and perspective. Children and families are welcome! We live in an ever changing world. Let's do something to help strengthen our foundation...for life!

Each person experiences mental distress uniquely. My role is first to partner with my clients to ensure their safety in our shared space, create a bond of trust, and then dive into problems and solutions. Whether one experiences identity- or event-based problems and whether those are caused by individual development or social conditions, I strongly believe in the innate ability of trusting partnerships to overcome the troubles in our lives. If I'm not the right therapist for a person, I will work hard to keep them safe until they decide how to move forward. Be assured that your scars are honored in therapy with me!

Making positive changes in life can feel overwhelming but can be easier with the support of a counselor. I am an experienced clinician and I have assisted people through some incredibly difficult periods. My goal is to help you create a healthy and enjoyable life by identifying and developing your strengths and supports, enhance your ability to emotionally manage life's ups and downs, improve relationships with loved ones, and enhance your self-esteem. Due to the Covid pandemic I am strictly doing remote sessions by either phone or video. This has been a significant change to my work but I have come to enjoy distance counseling.

The ideal clients I am reaching out to are interested in participating in teletherapy, either individually or as couples. Due to a number of breaking developments, I have decided to convert my long-running practice to online therapy. I have professional counseling licenses in Vermont, MIssouri, and Illinois. I work from Missouri. Furthermore, I am seeking clients who prefer to work outside of the insurance system. I am rebooting my practice to offer high-qualify and affordable therapy. If you are interested, all you would need is Skype or Zoom (both are free downloads). I am offering 45 minute sessions for $40.

I'm interested in helping clients gain a better understanding of their relationship with themselves and to others within their lives. I believe human connection is essential for people as well as living with honesty and balance. Through compassionate humor and straightforward dialogue, I strive to help clients review the thought process involved in developing harmony between their behaviors, values and feelings and their identified inner needs, goals and sense of self. I'm especially interested in helping clients to establish a harmony of communication between the three parts of the mind: the Brain, the Heart and the Gut.

Your days seem to blend together, grasped tightly in the hands of pressures and to-dos. Most of your energy is spent trying to avoid mistakes or “bad” situations, but this exhausts you. It’s possible that you even spend a lot of time worrying about others, people-pleasing, running yourself ragged trying to keep your head afloat in the water you hardly recognize as your life. As you try to sleep your brain replays everything you “should” have done differently, things you have to do tomorrow, and whether or not everything you’re doing is even enough. It feels sometimes like you don’t even have control over your own mind.

My clinical work has consisted of treating a variety of clients with different backgrounds and concerns. I am particularly interested and experienced in treating interpersonal relationship problems, self-esteem concerns, family of origin issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, codependency and LGBTQ issues. I enjoy facilitating individual and couples therapy with adults. As a compassionate, yet assertive clinician, I work with clients to meet self-identified goals. I view myself more as a guide and mentor than expert. My clients have described me as "down to earth" and "personable."

*Please note: I have little to no availability for new clients at this time. I will update this if anything changes.* My emphasis is on building a strong relationship as the foundation for change, and using this collaboration to explore which evidence based and client centered approaches will be most helpful for you. We'll work together to figure out what's right for you. Prior to going into private practice, my background in substance abuse counseling as well as crisis services has taught me to be flexible in my approach and to recognize the unique challenges which each individual faces.

Teletherapy (Online Therapy, Virtual Therapists) Therapists
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in 05401, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in 05401 listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
Therapists in 05401 are able to work with a wide range of issues and communities, including the BIPOC community in 05401. They offer in person sessions as well as Teletherapy in 05401

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counselor in 05401 you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counseling or couples counseling in 05401 and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counseling in 05401 or family therapy in 05401.
