Equine-assisted psychotherapy is an experiential approach that combines therapy with the unique presence of horses. These sessions involve collaboration with a team that includes a licensed therapist, an equine specialist, and one or more horses. In our sessions, we create a space where clients of all ages can explore challenges, develop insight, and discover their own solutions. Horses are incredible partners in therapy due to their sensitivity to human emotions and their ability to respond authentically in real-time.
The horse's feedback acts like a mirror, helping clients gain understanding of thoughts, feelings and behaviors—and providing opportunities for positive growth. Through guided activities, clients have the opportunity to observe how their patterns influence themselves and others, practice new skills and build confidence in a supportive environment.
Equine-assisted psychotherapy can be helpful for a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges and relationship issues. All sessions are conducted on the ground—there is no riding involved—and no prior experience with horses is needed.
