My work focuses on trauma-informed care for adults dealing with PTSD, childhood trauma, grief, and life challenges related to chronic illness or stress.
Disenfranchised Grief is very personal. It is a grief others do not understand. If anyone has ever said you're better off without a person, a job, etc., it may make you feel embarrassed to publicly mourn. If you feel you are not able to grieve properly, let's talk. Call me for a free 15 minute consultation.

Many of us believe we should have everything figured out, but it's normal to feel lost at times or struggle to understand ourselves. Maybe you long for meaning, authenticity, and connection, but often life feels like something you’re just pushing through. Moving forward requires deeply understanding ourselves, examining past wounds, challenging limiting beliefs, and even facing parts of ourselves we prefer to ignore. This journey is easier with a compassionate guide who offers non-judgmental support and curiosity, and who can help support you as you work through difficult emotions and patterns to build a life you enjoy.

Life is a book in which we intend to write one story, but are inevitably forced to write another. I help couples and individuals through the difficult chapters. Has the love story you dreamed of writing grown stagnant or been rocked by betrayal? I’ll help restore intimacy, reignite passion, rebuild trust, and rediscover the joy of love. Facing a chapter characterized by debilitating depression, crippling anxiety, a cloud of grief, or the ghost of past trauma? Find refuge, relief, and healing here. A difficult chapter doesn’t mean your story is ruined. We'll get through the painful pages and begin writing a new and better chapter.

So, here you are....truly trying to figure out life. You have set goals, achieved them, and you're living in those successes right now. The thing is, as you look around, you don't see other members of your original community. Oh, this is not the first time you've been one of the few or even one of one, but this is a new level. This feels different. You want to genuinely connect and process how to manage this new lifestyle with its increased expectations. I hear you wondering about those left behind. I hear you questioning yourself and sometimes even your safety. I hear....you. Hi, I'm E'ula. I'm here with you. Let's talk about it.

Navigating life brings multiple stressors, decisions, unexpected changes, loss, trauma, parenting uncertainties, relationship dynamics, a range of emotional experiences and normal transitions that are hard. Many of us need a safe, non-judgmental space to be able to make sense of what has happened or is happening. We need understanding and time to explore the impact and how we want to move forward, and I would like to help. I enjoy helping with parenting challenges, young adults launching from high school and college, effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, attachment disruptions and adoption needs.

I offer EMDR for not only traumatic experiences but for other presenting issues including grief and chronic pain.
If you are lying awake at night with racing thoughts, feeling like you can't catch your breath, or are doom scrolling on social media to avoid the chaos of your current situation – you are not alone. I assist people who are overwhelmed and stressed because they feel like they can’t escape the pressures that have built up. I help people achieve their goals- such as wanting to be more fulfilled, enjoying life, being more present, and engaging in activities with family and friends. In practice, this looks like improving your sleep, reducing physical tension, being less irritable, and increasing your motivation.

I offer a place where they will be respected while facing honestly the traps of porn addiction, lonely leadership, chronic pain, and doubts about God.
I offer specialized somatic based therapy. Less talk based. More space to notice. People seem to prefer my approach of slowing down to give the issue room to let go of what it was holding onto. Move about your own life again. Easy curiosity in therapy opens up awareness to new possibilities. Sometimes I use EMDR if it is helpful.

Chronic Pain Therapists
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
