My life has been shaped by profound loss and trauma, and I understand firsthand how deeply these experiences can affect the human heart and mind. I survived sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse in childhood, endured years of depression and suicidal thoughts, and grew up in a deeply dysfunctional environment. By the age of 22, I had already experienced nearly two dozen significant deaths, along with two serious automobile accidents and the trauma of being trapped in a burning building. Living with complex PTSD has been part of my journey, and it has also shaped my deep empathy for those who carry unseen wounds.

Sometimes we feel like we are broken into a million pieces. Looking at the pieces feels overwhelming and exhausting. It feels like we can't do this on our own but we don't want to be a burden on others. Having someone help put the pieces back together helps us feel more whole. Healing starts with a helping hand. Don't feel like you can not change or that you are too broken to be helped. Nobody is too broken, we just haven't learned how to heal in a healthy way. I am a Licensed Therapist with 7+ years of experience and I am formally trained in EMDR. I look at the root cause of our distress and what made us who we are. We can heal.

Hi, I am a Holistic Therapist. If you are struggling and would like to get back on track with an overall healthy lifestyle, give me a call. You're wondering if I might be a good fit. I am a straightforward, perceptive, and non-judgmental practitioner. The therapy I provide is not a one-size-fits-all approach but a collaborative, customized approach to your specific needs. I'll ask questions and engage in dialogue with you throughout the therapeutic process. We will discover new areas for growth and healing. Please note that not all therapy is covered by insurance. I do not bill insurance for marriage counseling or most sex therapy.

An ideal client is one who understands that I do not make ANY promises and I am not the solution to the issues they may have. I, along with their help, will attempt to unravel things and attempt to produce more effective outcomes. Not every Therapist is a good fit for you and that's okay.

Therapy can be a daunting task. It is my goal to help you address the issues you are seeking help for and give you real life techniques to use in your therapeutic process. I tend toward cognitive behavioral and solution focused therapies but recognize that everyone is unique and may require different approaches. I have significant experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children, abused children/adolescents and adult survivors of trauma. I tend to view therapy as a process. I believe it is important to meet people where they are so they can fully embrace the changes they seek to make.

It is my pleasure to work with you in a therapeutic relationship. My primary belief is that what makes therapy effective is the quality of our relationship. You are being asked to share the deepest aspects of your personhood; as your therapist, I will treat these facets as sacred, confidential and worthy of my best work. I believe children have a voice but just have difficulty verbalizing it at times, and through interactive and expressive therapy I am able to best communicate and build relationships.

(Accepting New Patients) I help people discover the blind spots, inner conflicts, and unconscious patterns that have secretly blocked their attempts to heal. Discovering these unconscious blocks allows us to create a flexible and personalized treatment plan to manage your symptoms and treat the underlying causes. Working with me feels similar to physical therapy: soothing at times and challenging at others, but ultimately, healing.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
