I have experience working with clients of all ages in chronic illness, trauma, depression, anxiety, abusive relationships, grief, religious trauma, healthy skills for relationships, and more.
My goal as a therapist is to help others become the best version of themselves. I work with and support my clients to achieve mental and emotional well-being while discovering themselves. Too often, we shy away from help because we are ashamed, afraid, or don't understand the process. I believe everyone can benefit from time in therapy and become the author of their own story.

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I work with barriers and unresolved elements of experience that create patterns in and through our lives. Patterns can dictate our past, present and future if left unattended. My focus is to work with individuals and families to empower themselves through identification of stored experiences and patterns. I provide a safe place to be curious and observe and work with parts of our experience that are asking for attention. I incorporate tracking body sensations and the rhythms of nervous system in order to bring awareness to stress, tension, and trauma in the nervous system and body.

I offer a place where they will be respected while facing honestly the traps of porn addiction, lonely leadership, chronic pain, and doubts about God.
I offer specialized somatic based therapy. Less talk based. More space to notice. People seem to prefer my approach of slowing down to give the issue room to let go of what it was holding onto. Move about your own life again. Easy curiosity in therapy opens up awareness to new possibilities. Sometimes I use EMDR if it is helpful.

I have experience supporting individuals through deep emotional pain, interpersonal hurts, and the long-lasting effects of trauma.
If you've been told you're too sensitive, too emotional, or "too much..." If you've caught yourself apologizing just to keep the peace... If you've heard "that didn't happen," "you're remembering it wrong," or "you're overreacting" so many times that you started questioning your own memory... If you feel like you're always walking on eggshells, managing someone else's moods, or making yourself smaller just to stay safe... I see you. Starting therapy is one of the most terrifying yet rewarding steps you can take toward healing. You deserve calm. You deserve safety. You deserve to be heard.

My work focuses on trauma-informed care for adults dealing with PTSD, childhood trauma, grief, and life challenges related to chronic illness or stress.
Disenfranchised Grief is very personal. It is not a grief others understand unless they have experienced it themselves. If anyone has ever said you're better off without a person, a job, etc., it may make you feel embarrassed to publicly mourn the person or the situation. If you feel you are not able to grieve properly, call me for a free 15 minute consultation.

I am passionate about inclusivity, especially in working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds such as those who are neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, minority status, and so much more. Therapy is not an easy process, and it can be difficult to admit that you are struggling in the first place. However, if you are feeling stuck, unsure, or dealing with unexpected change, I am here to remind you it does not have to be your forever. By working with you to explore your emotions and reach the understandings at the root of the issues you face, I will work to empower you with confidence, resiliency, courage, and hope for your future self.

Chronic Pain Therapists
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
