No one comes to a therapist because they need a lecture. You're here because you need a partner on your personal journey to healing. Good therapy is an invitation into a dialogue, not a monologue where someone "thera-splains" yourself to you. It's my passion to help my clients with self-esteem, depression, anxiety,
parenting
and learning to find enjoyment in daily life. I use trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches to support my clients and am LGBTQ affirming. My areas of expertise include life transitions, depression/anxiety and positive
parenting
coaching (including how to support your LGBTQ child).

My professional focus is with adult women struggling with life, relationships and general stressors. Marriage, friendships and
parenting
are just a few examples. Are you unhappy, worried or just can't seem to find joy? When we stop taking care of ourselves and live according to other people's expectations, we lose our authentic self - we lose the ability to experience joy and wholeness. By working with a therapist in a positive and accepting environment, you can uncover your strengths and gain the tools to cope with difficult times.

Going to counseling takes guts. Its not easy to talk to someone you don't know about what you need help with, but if you will take the risk, you will feel better. Isn't that we all want? To feel better? I don’t have a magic wand to fix it all overnight, but I’ll walk through the hard times with you. Dealing with the past is hard. Being a
parent
is hard. Coping with stress is hard. Relationships are hard. Meeting the demands of life is hard. You don’t have to face all the hard stuff on your own! We will figure it out together. We will laugh together, I promise. Therapy can be fun(ish).

I also provide services for clients surviving high conflict divorce such as Co-
Parenting
Therapy, Reconciliation Therapy, Divorce Transition for Children, Therapeutic Supervised Visitation.
I have worked with children and families for over twenty-five years and I never cease to be amazed at their resiliency. What I have learned is that children do cope with life struggles, but increasing the likelihood that they develop positive coping skills often depends on the support that surrounds them. Working with children and adults to recognize their own strengths and to learn new strategies for success remains a focus of my practice.

It’s okay to not be ok. Asking for help is the bravest thing you can do. I am here to help! Are you feeling anxious or depressed? Maybe for you it’s anger, withdrawal or substance use. Maybe you are having relational issues or struggling to work through trauma. Maybe you are a
parent
really struggling to manage tough behaviors with your child. Whatever you are feeling and whatever you are going through, your feelings are valid and you are worth the effort. Sometimes our worries and problems feel so big and so dense, it’s hard to find our way through without a guide and a little extra support. I get it, life is hard!

It's okay to speak up and ask for help to become a better you in your marriage, family, or as a
parent
.
Sometimes life is hard and overwhelming. You try to hold it all together and as far as anyone can tell you are doing just that. But on the inside you are falling apart. You're exhausted trying to keep your life together and hold it in so nobody knows what you're really going through. You're worried it's starting to show. But now it's enough. You don't think you can hold it in and hide it anymore. You're tired of keeping it all together for everyone else, and ignoring yourself and your own needs. It's okay that you are not okay. That's the first step, realizing it's time for something to change. It's time that you took care of you!

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
