Hello, Thank you for visiting my page. I have worked with people who have experienced trauma, depression, unresolved
grief
, addiction, anxiety,
loss
, and life transitions. I work collaboratively with my clients, while being supportive and dedicated to their increased well being. My approach to therapy is to be genuine, open, honest, supportive, and curious. I view psychotherapy as a framework for identifying, understanding, and working through problems that cause people to feel stuck, helpless or insecure about their lives. Ultimately, I consider the goal of psychotherapy as empowering others to reach aspired levels of purpose.

Helping people move out of survival mode and into a thriving life is my passion. My specialty is trauma recovery with an emphasis on
grief
and/or religious abuse/deconstruction. Maybe you lost an important person and the
grief
is overwhelming or confusing. Or you were raised in a religious belief system that you are starting to see was harmful to you but don't know what to do about that. Or other life transitions that have caused you to desire a different way of relating to yourself and others. I would love to talk! I believe you are the expert in your life but deserve to not be alone on your journey to your highest self.

Problems such as marital discontent, caregiving issues, career choices, and unresolved
grief
issues present themselves.
Many adults may seek the help of a therapist when they are feeling depressed or anxious. Often they might be experiencing disillusionment, discontent, doubt or restlessness but are not sure of the reasons why. Many times they seek to alleviate the painful emotions resulting from
loss
, or dysfunction in interpersonal relationships. I believe my role is to assist these clients in determining the source of their discontent and developing coping skills to live successfully and happily, in spite of life's challenges. I especially enjoy working with adults experiencing midlife transitions and the associated challenges of the afternoon of life.

For several years I worked in agencies and clinics where I helped people struggling with
loss
, trauma, and addictive behaviors.
Whether you are struggling with trauma, difficult relationships, or general dissatisfaction, therapy can help you learn to respond to challenges more productively and with improved flexibility. Looking at one's behaviors and relationships is challenging, but sharing that exploration with a compassionate person can be transformational. My goal is to create a non-judgmental, supportive environment where we can look at your past and present to understand why you might be responding to life in ways that are less than satisfying. We can then focus on how you can pursue your goals, have more intimacy, and feel more vital.

I work to provide ongoing care to men, women, and teens (14 and older) suffering with mental health issues, some of whom develop negative coping responses when they feel at a
loss
to manage symptoms in other ways.
I am a LCSW and LADC/MH providing therapy in the Tulsa Metro at Strength of Mind Behavioral Health. I focus on meeting a client where they are and walking with them as a partner to aid in addressing barriers, challenges, and developing healthy coping strategies. My approach is one of non-judgment that empowers clients to confidently interact with their world and learning how to balance emotion and reason. I ask that my clients come open and willing to explore the treatment process together, as a team, so we might identify barriers and work to overcome them, therapeutically.

Grief
and
loss
presents itself in a basket of multifactorial components.
Grief
tugs at our hearts and minds through any significant
loss
or conflict. I have a strong passion for helping people who are struggling with
grief
from the
death
of a loved one, trauma, relationship issues, blended families, career issues, chronic illness, or life’s trials and tribulations. In a world where we tend to avoid
grief
and
loss
in hope it will simply disappear, we may find it creeping back in. This can be intentionally or unintentionally. This may occur in the form of depression, anxiety, or other behavioral aspects. I often hear “I feel stuck”.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
