My clients are looking for changes; it could be changes in life situations such as work, school, and home life. Most of us need support and direction when it comes to having healthier
family
relationships, and ways to connect or reconnect with significant loved ones. I also work with clients who are struggling with addiction and mental illness - this can feel so taboo, however, no
family
is immune to either of these challenges. It's my job to create the space for clients to learn and/or practice coping with life in healthier ways.

Is your
family
struggling with life transitions? Often when we face stress and overwhelm in our families, it can show up for us or our children as the following: anxiety, depression, impulse control, anger management, grief or loss, low self-esteem, or relationship issues. You are not alone in facing these problems. If you're feeling overwhelmed by life's numerous challenges, I can help you and your
family
navigate the path to solutions. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I find that having a good sense of humor and being authentic and direct helps throughout the therapy process.

I have worked with adults, kids, families, and couples that have struggled with: coping skills, triggers,
family
/couple's complexities, trauma's/abuse, anxiety/depression, self care/love, ADHD/ ADD, communication issues, setting boundaries, sexual identity, sexual issues, health issues, self harm, suicidal thoughts, behavioral problems, and some addictions.
Life is tough and extremely complex. When it comes to seeking help, it can be hard to find someone that you can trust and be able to discuss the intense "stuff". Therapy is a way to gain tools that will help guide you through this life. People come in different shapes and sizes, with so many different experiences and trauma. There isn't a specific criteria that can define a person to one thing. Therefore, anyone is welcome. Come one, come all.

It's okay to speak up and ask for help to become a better you in your marriage,
family
, or as a parent.
Sometimes life is hard and overwhelming. You try to hold it all together and as far as anyone can tell you are doing just that. But on the inside you are falling apart. You're exhausted trying to keep your life together and hold it in so nobody knows what you're really going through. You're worried it's starting to show. But now it's enough. You don't think you can hold it in and hide it anymore. You're tired of keeping it all together for everyone else, and ignoring yourself and your own needs. It's okay that you are not okay. That's the first step, realizing it's time for something to change. It's time that you took care of you!

In therapy, I strive to create an environment where every client feels seen, heard & understood. Therapy is a place where you can come & there are no expectations of you. I want to walk alongside you and be a support for whatever you need. Those areas can include: developing new mental health tools to improve quality of life, exploring hard issues, creating a healthier
family
or relationship dynamic, processing trauma through EMDR, conquering anxiety or OCD through ERP, grieving past experiences or relationships or simply a place to learn more about yourself.

My approach is a holistic, evidence-based, integrative approach between Cognitive behavioral therapy,
family
systems theory, client-centered, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
We all need a place to put our guard down, feel safe, and process life's challenges. I believe in the therapeutic process and compassionately challenging my clients to face difficulties while having my support. My joy is to help you identify or rediscover your purpose, reprocess past traumas, enjoy singleness, overcome depression, break-ups, and other obstacles. I hope to help you form healthy relationships via pre-engagement and pre-marital, marital,
family
, and peer relationships counseling. I have a "soft spot" for seeing international, and grad students succeed while maintaining a healthy balance and staying culturally relevant.

I have testified in criminal, civil and
family
cases for both the prosecution and defense.
I have worked with children and families for over twenty-five years and I never cease to be amazed at their resiliency. What I have learned is that children do cope with life struggles, but increasing the likelihood that they develop positive coping skills often depends on the support that surrounds them. Working with children and adults to recognize their own strengths and to learn new strategies for success remains a focus of my practice.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
