We are all looking for that safe place where we can go to heal heal and work on finding ways to improve our lives. People's struggles are real and we all just want that person who we know is in our corner when no one else is , but we also need that person who can help us figure out how to turn things around when it seems like there is no hope of changing things.

I must be perfect. I will fail. I'm permanently damaged. I cannot trust myself. Do these, or other negative beliefs feel true, even though you may know they're not true? Do you struggle with a past that you try to keep pushed away but it keeps interfering with your life? Do you feel like your experiences have left wounds that you wish would just heal, but they continue to impact you physically, emotionally or relationally? I can help you find freedom from those nagging thoughts, emotions and body sensations that are preventing you from living the life you want to live.

Everyone can utilize counseling at one time or another in their life. We all struggle with issues or problems that we need help working through. Therapy is not a bad word. It takes courage and strength to admit that you need help and take the steps to get that help. I provide a safe, compassionate environment for you to talk about issues. I work with adolescents, teens, adults, families, and the elderly. I believe we are mind, body and spirit; all three of these need to be in line to be a whole, healthy person. I believe in the power of prayer and how it changes our lives.

Whether you’re struggling in your current relationships, feeling stuck in your past, or worried about your future, I will meet you where you are. I will help you recognize and use your strengths to work on solutions and set goals to move forward with your life.

I work to provide ongoing care to men, women, and teens (14 and older) suffering with mental health issues, some of whom develop negative coping responses when they feel at a loss to manage symptoms in other ways.
Working in private practice with Evolution Mental Health Services. I am a LCSW and LADC/MH licensed to practice in Oklahoma. I am SAP certified. I focus on meeting a client where they are and walking with them as a partner to aid in addressing barriers, challenges, and developing healthy coping strategies. My approach is one of non-judgment that empowers clients to confidently interact with their world and learning how to balance emotion and reason. I ask that my clients come open and willing to explore the treatment process together, as a team, so we might identify barriers and work to overcome them, therapeutically.

Many of us are grieving the loss of life as we know it.
Our thoughts and feelings work hand in hand. Often times we think a new situation will be hard and scary, and anxiety arrives or becomes more prevalent. Together we can change the way you think about a situation, and heal the way you feel.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
