I predominately use ACT and IPT in sessions and am continuously using trauma-informed & attachment-based techniques.
As far as anyone knows, you love being a mom but deep down, you know the truth. You may have scary thoughts that you wouldn't dare share with anyone. This motherhood transition is not as easy as you imagined, filled with frustration and a loss of control. You are not sure if what you are feeling is a normal postpartum experience or if it is more serious, like postpartum depression or anxiety. Either way, you can't imagine living the rest of your life with this sweet child feeling the way you are feeling. You deserve to feel happiness again and truly enjoy this stage of life. I bet your partner would agree. You can feel better.

Every person on the earth needs to feel safe, valued, loved, and respected. My job as a therapist is to help clients tap into their God-given skills, abilities, and strengths to discover the jewel hidden beneath all the pain, depression, anxiety, and loss. People need to know their life has a purpose, and when they win and overcome, they give others hope and courage that they can do the same. The goal is freedom and the ability to live the life God intended. We will laugh, cry, and scream if necessary.

I love using an eclectic blend of the types I outlined, but lean heavily into person centered, attachment-based and trauma focused therapy modalities.
My favorite type of client is one who is sick of how things are, sick of how things have been or have felt and is ready to change. I like to see adults (but I see older kids, too!) who are ready for that process. Growth takes work, but I am ready to come alongside you do this work, as you heal from your past and background. I would love to help get you where you want to be. Life can be so hard. I am here to support you and also to help you get healthier and stronger to get through the tough spots.

I was trained as a safety engineer in Chicago, focusing on systems or how people get their needs met. Later, I was trained as a marriage and family therapist in the Canadian Rockies. I bring a different perspective to the therapy couch due to life experience and training. I’ve been practicing for over 15 years and provide a Christ-centered approach to therapy. I use an attachment lens to develop strong emotional bonds with others. Attachment theory is simply a way of understanding our default positions in relationships t. I enjoy working with couples and families and helping couples "fall in love again".

I am not the expert on you, you are the expert on yourself. I am not the expert because I haven’t lived life in your shoes. Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
