I help everyday people—students, workers, parents, caregivers, tradespeople, first responders—deal with stress, anxiety, burnout, and life’s curveballs. I help with -Stress, anxiety, and emotional overload -Relationship and family struggles -Work pressure, burnout, and life balance -Grief, loss, and tough transitions -Self-worth, boundaries, and feeling stuck.

Whether you are struggling with trauma, difficult relationships, or general dissatisfaction, therapy can help you learn to respond to challenges more productively and with improved flexibility. Looking at one's behaviors and relationships is challenging, but sharing that exploration with a compassionate person can be transformational. My goal is to create a non-judgmental, supportive environment where we can look at your past and present to understand why you might be responding to life in ways that are less than satisfying. We can then focus on how you can pursue your goals, have more intimacy, and feel more vital.

You are exhausted. You’ve been holding everything together— and at best surviving— for so long that you don't always recognize yourself anymore. Life has left you overwhelmed, stuck, and wondering how much longer you can keep doing this. You desperately want something different, but part of you may even wonder if change is really possible. I believe hope is more than a feeling. It’s a decision. Even now, in the middle of pain, overwhelm, and uncertainty, you can choose a new path— one that leads out of mere survival and into truly living.

How on earth do you choose a great therapist? Seriously, I mean...look at the hundreds of wonderful therapists on this site! Picking a therapist can be intimidating, but don't let it daunt you! Studies continually show that, for therapy to be "successful," there needs to be a strong relationship between you and your therapist. That's it. Really. Skill and competency are important-yes-but a therapist's expertise won't shine through if you don't trust them.

I was trained as a safety engineer in Chicago, focusing on systems or how people get their needs met. Later, I was trained as a marriage and family therapist in the Canadian Rockies. I bring a different perspective to the therapy couch due to life experience and training. I’ve been practicing for over 15 years and provide a Christ-centered approach to therapy. I use an attachment lens to develop strong emotional bonds with others. Attachment theory is simply a way of understanding our default positions in relationships t. I enjoy working with couples and families and helping couples "fall in love again".

Life isn’t working the way you need it to right now. The stress is piling up, and no matter how much you push through, things aren’t changing. Maybe you’re tired of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’re constantly falling short. You don’t need someone to just nod and listen—you need real solutions. The truth is, if nothing changes, this cycle will keep running your life. But it doesn’t have to.

Adoption Therapists
Does my adopted child need therapy?
Not every adopted child needs therapy. However, many can benefit from seeing an adoption-informed therapist, especially if they were victims of abuse or neglect, appear withdrawn or disconnected, have behavioral or developmental issues (which may or may not be related to their adoption), are struggling with feelings of grief or loss surrounding their birth parents, or find it difficult to establish an identity, a challenge that often becomes most apparent during adolescence.

When should adoptive parents seek therapy?
Prospective parents can benefit from therapy even before an adoption—for example, to voice worries and fears; to reconcile infertility struggles, if relevant; or simply to prepare themselves for parenthood. After the adoption, parents who are struggling to bond with their child; are unsure how to talk about adoption or related issues, such as race; or whose child is dealing with developmental, behavioral, or psychiatric concerns can address these and other issues with the help of an adoption-competent therapist.

Is family therapy appropriate for adoptive families?
Family therapy can be invaluable for strengthening the bond between adoptive parents and children, helping the latter feel more secure in their place in the family. Family therapy can also help adoptive families navigate complex communication issues—for example, parents who feel uncomfortable discussing race with their child, who in turn feels invalidated by their silence, or a child who has questions about his birth parents but avoids asking them out of fear of hurting his adoptive parents’ feelings.

What therapy is not appropriate for adoption issues?
A discredited therapy known as “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy” or “rebirthing therapy”) should not be used to treat adopted and foster children, though it was largely designed for this population. Attachment therapy involves restraining, coercing, and punishing the child in order for them to “release” negative emotions and attach to their new caregivers—techniques that are abusive and dangerous and have even proven fatal in some cases.
