I focus on the problem stated to me and make sure I am finely attuned to the affective state that the client brings into the therapy room. Often we are focusing on anxiety , depression, and/or post traumatic stress. In the current state of job stress due to the covid outbreak there is also situational stress of working in this environment. We collaborate on speaking to the problems and being in the emotional space the client needs to elaborate on the discomfort felt. It is important for me to know the why I am there with the client. We work this out together and I add my clinical experience to the therapeutic need of the client.

While I work with clients from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of presenting difficulties, some areas of specialty include anxiety disorders, OCD, body-focused repetitive behaviors (trichotillomania, excoriation, etc.
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I provide therapy services to adults and adolescents. My priority is to ensure I have a full understanding of a client’s needs to ultimately create a safe and comfortable space. It is my belief that problems addressed in therapy do not exist in isolation. Therefore, I commonly explore personal stressors, relationships, and identities with my clients. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches into my work, including Multi-Cultural, Interpersonal, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies.

Are you a compassionate heart who struggles with anxiety ? As a therapist, I focus on helping empaths build personal development and resilience in the face of life's challenges. If you are struggling with feelings of self-doubt, anxiety , and the lingering effects of an emotionally draining relationship, I can help you heal and develop the skills you need to live a more fulfilling life. As an empath, you may be particularly vulnerable to emotionally manipulative behaviors, which can leave you feeling depleted, anxious, and unsure of your own worth.

Our world is continuing to change “We are dealing with collective loss of the world we knew”… ”This is grief.” David Kessler, MD. As we acknowledge these changes, we may find ourselves sad, anxious, irritable, and lonely. The external disconnection and stress we are experiencing in the environment may mirror our own internal experiences. Depression, anxiety , and relationship issues often accompany drastic changes.

As a depth counselor, I assist clients who need deep healing from trauma, anxiety , depression, and other wounds to find wholeness in Self and relationships again. It takes a lot of courage to shine a light into the darkest places within, and to uncover and work with the roots of our pain. I truly believe even the most difficult symptoms hold gifts for us, and its my life's work to provide the space for my clients to face the scariest parts of being human, find those gifts, and turn the uncovered material into the stuff they need to move from surviving to actually thriving.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
