I have also been in private practice settings addressing symptoms related to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, anger , and chronic pain management.
Therapy can benefit almost all of us and is one of the best investments we can make (ourselves). Research indicates participating in psychotherapy can be effective at any stage of life. Becoming silent or avoiding our emotions can negatively impact our quality of life (interpersonal, occupational, and recreational functioning). I have been trained as a primary care health psychologist which is a specialty focusing on how the mind and body impact one another. Feedback from clients has noted it is easy to est. rapport due to a warm, compassionate style while my background and training is firm in evidence-based practice (aka it works).

Anxiety, depression, anger , relationship conflict, grief, adjustment, and poor performance are just a few of the difficulties we face in our lives. All of us need the support of others to help navigate the multitude of challenges we experience. Sometimes friends and family, coaches and teammates are too much a part of the situation to be objective or are ill-equipped to offer care, support and/or guidance in a way that is helpful. In these situations a highly trained and experienced professional can often be of great assistance.

I have experience with preteen children, adolescents, and adults experiencing various mental health symptoms including anxiety, depression, anger , self-esteem issues, behavioral problems, trauma, and familial difficulties.
Throughout life, people experience highs and lows. Often, we need help working through the difficult points in order to fully experience and appreciate the highs. I believe that all areas of our lives are interconnected and impact one another - our families, careers, relationships with friends and significant others, health and wellness habits, and so on. When something is not quite right in one of these areas, it typically trickles into the others. My job is to help my clients determine what can be changed within their lives to help alleviate negative emotions while improving their ability to cope with situations they can’t change.

My experience includes working with individuals, couples, and families addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, stress, trauma/PTSD, self esteem, anger , grief, co-parenting, and a variety of other issues.
Let's be honest, talking to a professional about your problems can be intimidating but taking step for yourself is a deeply rewarding process. Adjusting to the changes that life throws at us can be challenging and we don't always handle it as well as we'd like. In fact, we often find ourselves overwhelmed, anxious, burdened and saddened. My objective is to help you better understand, cope with, problem solve and face those changes in a way that is meaningful to you and your experiences.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
