Sometimes, we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed and stuck. When this happens, we can remain stuck and undecided, trudge through, or emerge stronger, wiser and more resilient. I love coming alongside clients who feel they are without hope, and helping them find their inner strengths to emerge resilient. I have experience working with anxiety, trauma, grief, PTSD, pain management, postpartum depression, chronic medical conditions, OCD, substance use, ADHD, religious reconstruction and marriage and family issues.

Hello! I want to first start out by saying, that ALL are welcome here. My hope for this space is that it will be not only therapeutic, but a healing environment, and that it will be a soft place to land for all who enter. I operate from a person-centered approach, and firmly believe in unconditional positive regard for my clients. My top area of special interest is religious trauma, including processing experiences of purity culture, shame-based teachings, and deconstruction. Additionally, I take interest in the areas of postpartum/women’s issues, relationships, grief, ADHD, LGBTQ+, body image/disordered eating, and sexuality.

I recently opened my schedule and have room for 2 new couples...I would love to help you! A good relationship can be life giving and encouraging...one of the best parts of your life. A bad relationship can honestly feel so draining and difficult that you feel hopeless and wonder if it's really worth the pain. You may feel disconnected, unseen, and unloved. If you're both ready for something different, I would be honored to come alongside and help you build the relationship you never thought possible. My main goal is to help you understand each other's realities, attune to each other emotionally, and build connection.

Thank you for your interest in my practice. I am a LPC with twenty years of mental health experience. I believe that therapy works best when it is a collaborative effort with therapist and client working together. While my approach is eclectic, recognizing that there is not a 'one size fits all' approach to counseling, I do work primarily from a Psychodynamic and Interpersonal perspective. There is more to counseling than a particular theoretical orientation. Providing a safe, supportive environment and the ability to sense what a person needs at a particular time are important therapeutic skills.

To everyone else it seems like you have it all together. But underneath it, you feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, and numb. You know something has to change, but where do you start? My passion is to guide people through these hard parts of life. I offer warmth, understanding, and help navigating life's toughest transitions.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
