I create a supportive and non-judgmental environment that facilitates healing and growth. My primary focus is to help people improve their lives in the present, even when that means healing from the past. I believe that each person has inner strength and resilience that they can increase, and that you are stronger than you think.

Everyone has problems to solve. It could be a relationship, job, death, identity. It could be more evasive, a sense that something is wrong, a feeling of dread, lack of creativity, or finding meaning. While problems may seem concrete, the solutions are often elusive. Psychotherapy is a chance to stand in the spaces, to delve into your mind, complexities, and sufferings with someone in your corner, a therapist, a compassionate helper, who makes the struggle more bearable. It takes dedication and grit, but is very rewarding.

Life is filled with ups and downs that we sometimes do not understand or have difficulty coping with. A different perspective from someone with your best interests at heart can be beneficial in better understanding, and possibly changing, the why and how we deal with these issues.

Do you feel stuck in a rut? Like you are running into a similar problem over and over or fighting the same fights with your partner? If you feel this way, it is because you probably are. Our view of ourselves, the world, and our closest relationships are influenced by our family of origin and are the catalyst for these patterns in our lives, including issues with self-esteem, unhappiness, anxiety, and relationship dissatisfaction. As a systemic therapist, I look below the surface and want to help to get to the root of what is going on.

We are experiencing so many changes in our world at this time. This is causing feelings of anxiety and depression. Our normal day to day lives however are still happening. Good mental health is a journey not a destination. I believe in the importance of emotional wellness.

We are all shaped by our life experiences. I’m here to tell you that it is safe to heal, be vulnerable and share who you really are deep down inside. Do you ever wonder why you are depressed, quick to anger, or why you always keep people at a distance? Many of us struggle to deal with what we already know is there; what is holding us back or creating harmful patterns in our life. But your subconscious may have buried trauma so deep in you that you can’t even identify it. These traumas, recognized or not, will keep you from living your best life until they are processed or resolved. I can help you with that.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
