Sexual Abuse Therapists in Moore, OK
I work with older adolescents and adults navigating trauma and PTSD, grief that doesn't follow anyone else's timeline, or the lasting effects of sexual abuse.
My approach is trauma-focused, drawing on EMDR and other evidence-based methods to help clients process what's stuck, rebuild connection, and develop a clearer sense of self. As an EMDR Clinician, I integrate EMDR throughout treatment to help resolve the roots of trauma, not just manage symptoms.

Therapy can be a daunting task. It is my goal to help you address the issues you are seeking help for and give you real life techniques to use in your therapeutic process. I tend toward cognitive behavioral and solution focused therapies but recognize that everyone is unique and may require different approaches. I have significant experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children, abused children/adolescents and adult survivors of trauma. I tend to view therapy as a process. I believe it is important to meet people where they are so they can fully embrace the changes they seek to make.

I work with individuals (adult women, teens, and children) and families on their journey towards healing and self/familial authenticity. In life, we often don't choose what cards we are dealt, but I help clients develop skills to play them while navigating challenges that the game of life brings. Life is difficult, and sometimes you need to rethink your game-plan. Maybe you recently went through life transition, change, or trauma. Maybe, you just need a safe place to process, feel heard, understood, and safe. I have experience providing trauma-informed and person-centered care for a variety of ages and concerns.

I believe therapy works best when people feel respected, understood, and comfortable being themselves. I meet clients where they are and work with teens, adults, and couples facing concerns such as trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, phobias, and self-esteem challenges. My approach is flexible—there’s no one-size-fits-all method. I integrate practical tools, including Somatic Polyvagal techniques, EFT, ACT, and HeartMath to support meaningful change. Email is usually the easiest way to reach me; if you call, please leave a voicemail, and I’ll return your message.

Finding the right therapist can feel daunting, especially when you’re carrying experiences that have shaped how you see yourself and the world. My work is rooted in a trauma-focused, client-centered approach, where your story, pace, and inner wisdom lead the way. I draw from Jungian depth psychology to help explore patterns, symbols, and unconscious material that often hold meaning beneath the surface of our struggles.

So here's the deal. How often do you say things like, "suck it up" and "rub some dirt on it" when things get tough? What are you hoping to gain from avoiding the truth that brought you to say those things? Are you bottling your feelings? That is the real issue: how you deal with life's roadblocks, speed bumps, and... and not whether or not they exist. Often, there is more than just you involved; you have children, and they look to you as an example. Emotions are human, YOU are human, THEY are human. But HOW in the HELL do you deal? Grab life by the horns and let's make a game plan! Life isn't easy. Call me...you are not alone!

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
