I believe that meaningful change happens within caring and empathic relationships that honor each person’s individuality. My therapeutic approach is rooted in warmth, understanding, & collaboration. I believe that when people are met with deep understanding, they gain the insight and energy needed to overcome obstacles, align with their authentic values, and cultivate richer, more fulfilling lives. My intention is creating a space where clients feel truly seen, heard, and valued. Through exploration of relational patterns, thoughts, and behaviors, we will work together to uncover the barriers to growth and fulfillment.

I see myself as a navigator. You are the captain. You decide where you want to go. I may have a few good maps to help you get there. It's your boat. You decide how fast or slow. Let me help you build a sturdy ship. So that no matter what stormy seas you find yourself in, you know how to rely on the resources within you. And around you. And how to keep them strong. We are indeed complex creatures. We need to stay in touch by learning about the many ways to find peace and understanding about what things mean. And what we can do about it. And you don't have to do it alone. I'll walk with you.

Despite our strengths we can feel stuck, unable to move forward with a life that aligns with our goals and values. We often continue using coping skills that were once helpful but now no longer help move us through the more challenging and unexpected issues in our lives. Together we identify these familiar yet unproductive styles of coping with compassion. I use techniques that approach difficult thoughts and feelings without fearing, fighting or running from them while being able to address them with acceptance.

Welcome to Forrest Christian Counseling! So many of us have lived feeling weighed down by core beliefs we've carried for years “I’m powerless,” “I’m not good enough,” or “It’s not safe to feel.” These beliefs shape the way we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and the choices we make. At Forrest Christian Counseling, you’ll find compassionate support and guidance as you begin to finally let go of those hurtful beliefs. Together, we’ll help those old beliefs become a thing of the past—so you can make room for something new: “I can get my needs met.” “I am lovable.” "I am enough.”

It’s okay to not be okay. Asking for help is the bravest thing you can do. I am here to help! Are you feeling anxious or depressed? Maybe for you it’s anger, withdrawal, or feelings of hopelessness. Maybe you are having relational issues or struggling to work through trauma. Maybe you are a parent struggling to manage tough behaviors with your child. Whatever you are feeling and whatever you are going through, your feelings are valid, and you are worthy of help. Sometimes our worries and problems feel so big and so overwhelming, it's hard to find our way through without a guide and a little extra support. I get it, life is hard!

I have been in Private Practice since 1993 helping individuals & Couples resolving issues & working together as a team. I utilize a psycho-educational approach with handouts & board work. I use hypnosis at times to assist the client with behavior modification. I Stopped taking insurance & lowered my fee to $45 per session. I work also with Anger Management issues. Change is constant & sometimes we can get off track & need someone to talk to and figure out how to modify & fine tune our journey & get back on track. Remember..life is like a roller coaster..we will always have ups & downs..we just don’t want to stay down....

Sometimes life is hard and overwhelming. You try to hold it all together and as far as anyone can tell you are doing just that. But on the inside you are falling apart. You're exhausted trying to keep your life together and hold it in so nobody knows what you're really going through. You're worried it's starting to show. But now it's enough. You don't think you can hold it in and hide it anymore. You're tired of keeping it all together for everyone else, and ignoring yourself and your own needs. It's okay that you are not okay. That's the first step, realizing it's time for something to change. It's time that you took care of you!

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
