Being born into a broken world can bring traumatic life experiences leaving us feeling, hopeless and lost. As a Pastoral Counselor, Mental Health Coach and Life Coach, I strive to provide the best Biblically sound holistic care available. I enjoy teaching my clients about their unique strengths, providing a non-judgmental, confidential and peaceful atmosphere, while setting attainable goals conducive for growth. As an out of network provider I do not take insurance. However, I offer a reduced rate/sliding scale fee for those with limited finances. In most cases this is the same or slightly better than your insurance copay.

I help people rebound from difficult situations and reclaim purpose, meaning and pleasure in their life. I help them resolve their inner conflicts so that they may gain psychological freedom and enjoy all of what life has to offer them. Resolving inner conflicts removes barriers to relationships that form the basis for a coherent personal identity, relationship intimacy, and success in business and personal life. By using what happens in the therapy relationship, we can encounter, examine, and master the unconscious fears and beliefs that produce the debilitating problems which profoundly affect our lives, and thwart our goals.

You have come to the right place if: You struggle with anxiety, depression, and sleepless nights. You internalize a lot because you don't trust those around you. You suffer from low self esteem, and not sure about now and tomorrow. Your thoughts, feelings and behaviors have recently become so burdensome. Electronics have taken over intimate relationship with your family or loved ones. You suffer from a chronic disability that has affected your daily functioning. You've suddenly become isolative and aggressive towards others around you. If you struggle with addictive behaviors. Take the next right step. Call, text or email.

I want therapy "to be a place where people can experience deep repair, forgiveness, and an opening to greater wisdom." I was trained that we are not seeking to find what is wrong with people rather we are seeking to understand what restrains them from being the Self they want to be. This work can attend to brief/solution-focused methods while also listening for and liberating the transpersonal, the spirit of one's Self. My clients tend to show up with the experiences they might describe as depression, anxiety, reactivity or relationship disruption...

I have been doing consultations and therapy for 30+ years with individuals, couples and families. I enjoy working with couples, communication enhancement, child development and stress management and anger management. I help my clients sort out work on problems/solutions from emotional, mental and behavioral disorders. Often, with carefully planned goals a very few sessions get the job done. But I also do long term in-depth psychotherapy.

How do you handle your emotions? Does your anxiety spiral out of control and keep you stuck? Does your depression trap you and make it impossible to do anything? Does your anger explode and hurt your relationships? Does your past trauma lead you to pushing others away and isolation? Managing anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, and stress can seem impossible. We can easily become trapped by intense feelings. It can become lost and don’t know where to go next. I want to help you learn to manage these emotions and take control of your life.

The struggles of daily life can be overwhelming. When our most intimate relationships are struggling it can feel that we have no shelter from the storm. People and relationships need that security in order to become their most fulfilled.

Daytime (up until 4pm) available for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Choice, & Private Pay. We all go through times of struggle and pain. These times can cause us to feel lost, alone, scared, or just completely exhausted. One way to work through our struggles is to talk with someone we can confide in, who we know will not judge or looked down on us for what we have been through. Experiences as children can have lasting effects on us mentally & physically just as much as what we have experienced as adults. Working through our feelings of past and present situations we have been through can be very beneficial to our mental health.

Sometimes, when the unexpected happens our worlds seem to change. Making sense of what happened can be overwhelming and leave us feeling numb, angry, or fearful. We often resort to isolating ourselves and shutting the doors on things that previously brought us joy. Perhaps we feel on high alert with a constant need to monitor the safety of ourselves and our loved ones. We want peace of mind and relief, but it feels out of reach.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
