You might be the kind of person who holds everything together on the outside but feels worn out on the inside. Maybe anxiety, grief, or past experiences keep looping in your mind, or you are a parent watching your child or teen struggle and not knowing how to help. You want more than just venting; you want someone calm, steady, and practical who can help you understand what is going on and what to do next. You are hoping for clear tools, honest feedback, and a place where your values and beliefs are respected, not argued with. Most of all, you want life to feel more manageable again, for you or for your child.

I have over 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families achieve their therapy goals. My personal therapeutic philosophy is that emotional healing takes place when you address the well-being of the whole person - Mind, Body, and Soul. There is nothing better than seeing an individual caught in the grip of anxiety and depression, find lasting relief; or a couple on the brink of divorce transform into a healthy, loving relationship; or someone finding peace and healing from lifelong childhood-trauma.

Childhood experiences don’t stay in the past; they shape how you handle stress, responsibility, and relationships today. Many people learn early to stay strong, push through, or carry things quietly, only to feel overwhelmed or disconnected later in life. I help clients explore how unresolved experiences may be affecting their present-day functioning and relationships. Whether you’re seeking a therapist who thoughtfully integrates Christian faith or one who respects your personal beliefs and values, I offer a supportive, judgment-free space to adults who are ready to gain clarity and move forward with purpose.

Hi and welcome to Leah Brady Counseling! Some of my favorite therapy sessions feel less like formal appointments and more like meaningful conversations. I create a space where you can feel safe to open up—where trust grows naturally. As a therapist, I often bear witness to some of life’s hardest moments: heartbreak, shame, fear, and grief. I don’t take that lightly. I’m honored every time someone chooses to share their story with me. I see my role as someone who holds your story with care—confidentially and without judgment.

Life doesn’t give everyone equal coping tools, and I understand anxiety and addiction often develops as a way to survive overwhelming emotions, unstable environments, or unmet needs. I work with teens navigating school stress, family conflict, friendships, identity, and emotional overwhelm, as well as adults struggling with substance use and recovery. Many clients are trying to understand not just what they’re feeling or doing, but why. I also support couples impacted by addiction, helping rebuild trust, communication, and emotional safety while working toward healthier connection and long-term healing.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, or patterns in relationships that keep showing up no matter how hard you try to move forward? Many of the clients I work with feel emotionally stuck, disconnected from themselves, or unsure how to process experiences that still feel close to the surface. If you’re looking for a space where you can be fully seen, supported, and gently guided toward healing, you don’t have to do it alone.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.
Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.
Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
