I have availability Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays and I accept most BCBS and Aetna insurance plans and private pay. I offer telehealth or in-person sessions. As a LPC-Candidate, I understand that life can be very challenging at times. It is nice to be able to have support during these times in our lives. Working together in a judgement-free zone, we can create a safe space where issues, fears, thoughts, needs, and goals can be explored. I have a warm, relational approach to therapy that helps build up clients and offer them support during struggles that might appear in their life.

You thought you’d have a better grasp on life by now, right? If you’re honest, you’ve grown weary of the merry-go-round of trying & failing to the point that you’ve started recycling those same strategies to no avail. Maybe you’re finally ready to admit that your ability to navigate relationships hasn’t improved despite your efforts & communicating simply feels like standing in the middle of a minefield. It doesn’t have to be this hard. Maybe I can help! Trauma impedes our ability to accurately filter what we see, hear & experience in life, therefore, inhibiting our ability to function optimally, especially in relationships.

I am accepting New Clients at this time! I know today's world can be complex, and navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationships, and life transitions can be overwhelming at times. I get it. Life can feel heavy. Here is the thing, though: you do not need to go through these challenges alone. We can sort through it together. I can help you make sense of the thoughts, feelings, and emotions that can leave you looking for a solution. By allowing you time to tell your story, we can work together to build a renewed understanding of what makes you, you. Importantly, therapy also does not mean you did something wrong!

As a therapist, I am passionate about working with people who are trying to make sense of the painful patterns in their lives. Often, the symptoms that bring people to therapy are an indication of deeper emotional wounds. The type of therapy I provide focuses on both resolving current symptoms and healing problematic relational patterns through the creation of a safe, consistent environment in which to understand the complexity of a person's experiences and history. Together we will work towards greater self-knowledge, compassion, and growth.

I’m Monica, and I do depth-oriented, psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
By putting the pieces together, we can get to the heart of issues like depression, anxiety, trauma-related patterns, relationship issues, complicated grief, feeling stuck or stagnant, and identity in its many facets. Complex PTSD, early trauma, abuse and neglect are areas I focus on, and issues of social justice are important to me.

At some point, many of us wake up and realize: something isn’t working anymore. Maybe you’re exhausted from holding everything together. Maybe anxiety and perfectionism are running the show. Maybe you’ve spent so long tending to others that you’ve lost sight of your own needs — or even your sense of self. You don’t have to keep white-knuckling your way through it. Therapy can be the place where you finally exhale, speak the truth, and feel seen.

In my way of working with you, I lay my personal issues aside for our time together and give myself plenty of internal space to resonate with you on a gut level. As I hear your story in words I also hear it in feelings. A good therapist puts these two narratives together, the spoken one and the emotional one, in getting to an accurate understanding of you. When I merge this understanding with my training in psychology, which is extensive, I'm able to reflect purposefully with you about what might be wrong; about "how" you're hurting.

If you've been told you're too sensitive, too emotional, or "too much..." If you've caught yourself apologizing just to keep the peace... If you've heard "that didn't happen," "you're remembering it wrong," or "you're overreacting" so many times that you started questioning your own memory... If you feel like you're always walking on eggshells, managing someone else's moods, or making yourself smaller just to stay safe... I see you. Starting therapy is one of the most terrifying yet rewarding steps you can take toward healing. You deserve calm. You deserve safety. You deserve to be heard.

I also incorporate psychoanalytic approaches to explore both conscious and unconscious influences, allowing for deeper insight into patterns that may be contributing to current concerns.
Morning & early afternoon spots (before 4PM) available. As someone who has personally faced depression, anxiety, ADHD, addiction, divorce, and the loss of a parent, I understand how difficult it can be to work through emotions and ask for help. I strive to be a supportive listener and help clients navigate the many challenges life brings. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable space where you can express your thoughts and feelings openly without fear of judgment. Everyone deserves a place to feel heard, understood, and supported while working through life’s challenges.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
