Here’s the thing: I don’t believe therapy is one-size-fits-all. I start from a place of humility and curiosity because I don’t yet know you, but I want to know you and your story.

Have you ever felt different, invisible, or like no one truly sees or hears you? Like you’re just another number in a world that doesn’t take the time to understand? It’s exhausting to carry that weight alone, but I’ve been there too. In my practice, you’ll find a space where you are fully seen, heard, and valued—not as just another client, but as a person with a unique story that deserves to be honored. I enjoy working with young adults, adults, men, and LGBTQIA+ individuals seeking support for a range of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, identity struggles, relationship concerns, and more.

You've done the work. You know your story. So why does your body still react like the danger is still here? That's the gap talk therapy often can't close. Insight lives in the mind. Safety has to be relearned in the body, slowly, and through experience, not explanation. I work with people who are stuck after years of talk therapy, reactive, on edge, easily overwhelmed, disconnected from their own body, anxious, burnt out or shut down, numb, and missing joy. This isn't a failure on your part. It's a nervous system doing what it learned to do to keep you safe. It can learn something new.

Are you spending your day feeling burnt out, on the verge of a meltdown, or feeling like you are going to shut down? A social life is important to keep our cups full and spoons in our drawers. However, when you wake up still feeling tired from the day before, socializing is the last thing you want to do. Living in a mode of constantly feeling burnout does not allow you to be your best self. Understanding your daily needs is important so that you can live a happier and more fulfilled life.

Many of us are functioning on the outside but overwhelmed internally. You look capable and strong to others while privately dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic stress, or long-term illness. I work with mature teens and adults who want focused, meaningful change. My approach is direct and practical while still making room for honest emotional work and experiential healing. I also have experience working with Deaf individuals and Children of Deaf Adults (CODAs). As a CODA I understand the cultural and identity layers often missed in traditional therapy for Deaf, CODA, and hearing family members in the Deaf community.

Are you looking for a therapist that is trauma wise and educated to walk alongside you in your healing journey? I meet with any experiencing distress in their life across different ages, socioeconomics, and presenting problems. I am passionate about creating a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to process the parts of yourself that have been impacted by trauma and harmful experiences through an integrated approach addressing the brain, body, and person as a whole. Mental health services conducted by and for queer BIPOC individuals and communities are scarce as well, and I am honored to provide more accessibility to people like me.

In my practice, I have enjoyed working with children, adolescents, and adults who are wanting to live a healthy life. I have found that people of all ages sometimes find it difficult to communicate their emotions. We aren’t handed an emotions communication manual for today’s world. Plus, the world around us is constantly changing and this can cause us to adapt and survive the best way we know how.

Pain is common and sometimes we get stuck and find ourselves drowning in life's struggles. Depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, addiction and toxic relationships are often the "fruit" of that pain. Finding a path to healing and living a joy filled life can seem elusive, but there is hope. The human spirit is powerful and we continue to yearn for better despite the obstacles we encounter. Our sessions will focus on identifying those obstacles and challenging the thoughts and beliefs that support them.

As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.
What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.
How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.
How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
