My experience and training are as follows: EMDR, EFT, Trauma, Geriatric Issues, Depression/Anxiety, Body Work.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who strongly believes in the benefits of therapy; I have practiced for 35 years, and participated in my own personal work which allows me to be a supportive witness and caring guide. It's important to have a therapist who continues to work on themselves. In our Western culture, listening is often someone waiting for the opportunity to share their own thoughts on what needs to be done. I will actively listen, honor you, and be a witness to your personal experiences. It's important you feel you are in a safe and compassionate environment.

Reaching out for help can be one of the hardest steps to take, and I am honored to walk alongside my clients as they begin their journey toward healing and growth. I believe that each person has a place they want to be in life, and with the right support, guidance, and tools, meaningful change is possible. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. During our first sessions, we will take time to get acquainted, discuss your story to the extent that you feel comfortable sharing, and identify the goals that are most important to you. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment.

"Think of therapy as learning to listen to yourself the way you’ve always listened to everyone else." Do you feel overwhelmed by the demands of work, family, or relationships—always putting others first and losing touch with your own needs? Do you struggle with setting boundaries, managing intense emotions, or silencing a critical inner voice that tells you you’re never enough? These struggles aren’t your fault—they often stem from past experiences, relational patterns, and how your body and mind respond to stress. You want to feel grounded, secure, and connected to your authentic self—and you deserve to.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I believe that healing is a journey that already lives within each of us. Therapy, to me, is a collaborative process—one where the therapist walks alongside the client, offering guidance, support, and tools as they discover their own path toward wholeness. SE is a gentle, powerful approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine that helps the nervous system renegotiate trauma rather than relive it. It supports people of all ages.

Has life become overwhelming or harder than it used to be? You may feel stuck in a career, a relationship, or patterns shaped by past experiences. Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to heal, gain insight, and move forward. You don’t have to do this alone.

Something within you wants to emerge, yet you feel stuck and bound by beliefs like, "I'm not good enough," "It's too late for me," "I am shameful," or, "I'm broken." Often you feel you're watching your life rather than living it. You love your people, but you struggle to express it fully. You are carrying the weight of broken systems and feel the ache of a deep grief you can't quite name. You started this work because you want to help; now you feel like you're always in trouble. You desperately want to connect to Spirit and community, but have been harmed by church or religion. You're ready to come home to your body, to your Self.

I believe the deepest human longing is to be known and loved. It is through connection we find fulfillment and satisfaction in life. Often, our adverse life experiences cause fear, anxiety, anger, shame, and confusion, which rob us of authentic relationships. It is my passion and life's commitment to support and assist others in finding their path of freedom so that they may live a rich and deeply connected life with those they love. Together we will explore and process what obstacles may be keeping the client from reaching goals, feeling stuck, and fully living.

We don't always expect what life may throw in our direction. Sometimes, even what we would consider a positive change can stress or burden us in ways that make it difficult to feel like ourselves or function at our best. This can result in feeling depressed, anxious, hopeless about the future, or even paralyzed. Relationships change; death, major illness, or relationships ending can contribute to difficulty in living life the way we would like. I work best with individuals suffering from anxiety-related issues, regardless of gender, and those who are struggling with life transitions.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
