Life can be a lot and I know it gets tough to deal sometimes, situations arise that everyone needs someone to talk to. Whether it's the same issues coming up over and over, or life has taken an unexpected turn, we all can use some help from time to time. If you are feeling stressed out, depressed, dealing with major life changes, or trying to figure out a substance use issue, I can help you find better ways to handle those challenges. If you're curious about EMDR, even better! We can do that too.

Taking the first step is often the hardest and the most difficult, but by searching for a therapist, you have already begun the first step in YOUR healing process! I received both my Bachelor’s Degree and Master of Social Work Degree from Youngstown State University. I have been a Social Worker for 17 years, and am licensed through the Ohio State Board of Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists. I have a wide range of experience working with children, teens, young adults, adults and the elderly in individual, family and group settings.

I strive to foster a safe, affirming and supportive therapeutic environment, and view therapy as a collaborative process. I am curious and observant, vulnerable and honest and I look forward to walking alongside you through your therapy journey. I encourage you to experiment with new behaviors that could help you embrace your thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them and begin to engage in your life through making choices that move you toward your values.

We all go through times in our lives that prove to be tougher than others. Having courage to ask for help is a commendable and smart move. I have had success working with people going through depression, anxiety, grief and age-related adjustment disorder. I have extensive training and experience working with people going through change-of-life issues whether that be divorce, health related challenges/chronic illness or depression. Sometimes life is too busy to address past trauma. When life slows down a little, the emotional fallout from unresolved trauma becomes more pronounced. Therapy is a good way to put those to rest - gently.

Relationships are complicated, parenting is hard and life is messy. Understanding these truths has given me the desire to help people who are struggling. No matter how overwhelming or insignificant you think the problem is, developing a counseling relationship can be beneficial. I will journey with you as you develop goals, coping strategies and communication skills. I honor that families are diverse in composition and adapt treatment to the individual needs of each client. I use a systemic approach and have a wide array of experience with grief counseling, anxiety, depression, women's issues, spiritual concerns, infidelity, life transitions, play therapy, infertility, elder concerns and self-esteem issues.

I experience the work of therapy as a beautiful intersection of art, science, and spirituality. There’s an art to building a therapeutic relationship, connecting with others on a deeply human level and moving forward creatively even when the path isn’t clear. The science comes in through the evidence-based approaches and treatments I use, providing both a roadmap and a lens through which we can understand ourselves and foster growth. The spiritual aspect, for me, is in the sacred, intangible moments when someone opens up with bravery and vulnerability, moving toward healing not just in their mind, but in their heart and soul.

You are good enough, just as you are right now. Despite this truth, life can be difficult, painful, and just plain chaotic. Therapy can be a place of processing, healing, and discovering ourselves over again. It can be a place of forgiveness, acceptance, and learning that we are able to move forward with confidence in ourselves.

I primarily use evidence-based psychotherapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), in my work. In therapy, you can expect to learn different ways to approach difficult thoughts, emotions, and situations, gaining and strengthening tools to cope with new or longstanding difficulties and live a life that you value. I am trained as a generalist and enjoy working with adults experiencing any number of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, OCD, insomnia, and general stress, among others.

Clients that may be a best fit for therapy with me vary in age and may come with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, relational issues, dealing with life stress, and more. Above all, clients should be focused on putting in consistent effort to achieve goals with the provided additional support and motivation; the real work happens between sessions. Clients willing to make changes in daily life, to journey out of their comfort zone, and with hope for improvement can do well in therapy. Clients must be willing to engage in teletherapy, and those with limited access to face-to-face services are preferred.
