We live in a world where we face so much stress, impossible demands on our time and resources, and complicated problems in our homes, relationships, and jobs. Most people struggle to handle it all. I work with people who are seeking insight into how to better navigate life's challenges, and would like to move toward more balance, self-understanding, and peace. I offer support, insight, and care related to a range of issues, but I focus on anxiety & depression, recovery from a relationship with a narcissistic parent or partner, grief, parenting, religious trauma, and pregnancy loss/infertility.

Adding new clients for our new therapist joining the team for telehealth visits! The entire world has been changed, seemingly overnight. Please reach out if you need to talk to someone. Ever wake up in the morning and said to yourself, "I cannot keep doing this", only to find yourself doing the very thing you swore off only four hours ago? If you have said this to yourself, you have probably been surfing the internet for a cure for addictions, or how to quit drinking so much, or how to make it through detox. Addictions are insufferable. I have been working in the field for 13 years with mental health and addiction issues.

Hi, If you are experiencing problems that seem too overwhelming, perhaps I can help you sort them out and offer up ideas for positive change. Primarily, I like the using the brief therapy model, 7-8 sessions and have had good results over the past few years. No problem is too small if it's interfering with your happiness, be it your career, your relationships, or not meeting your own expectations of yourself or of someone else.

"I have worked, successfully, with individuals who are dealing with trauma and the anxiety that so often accompanies such trauma.
" I am a non-judgmental, open-minded therapist who believes that each client is an individual who deserves respect and unconditional regard for their life experiences. I engage in utilization of client centered therapy that allows the client to direct and feel more involved in the therapeutic process. This allows me to connect with the client and, together, develop a treatment plan that will help them to foster the skills that they feel they need to achieve the goals that they have set forth."

Clients I work with have issues with anxiety , depression, teen and adult ADHD and victims of narcissistic abuse.
When I decided to pursue a career as a therapist I did so because I wanted to make the world a better place, and decided to do that by helping one person at a time . My primary approach to mental health counseling is the Person -Centered approach . This means I believe that no one knows you better than you know yourself. It is my job to help you identify goals , improve communication , strengthen self-esteem and develop solutions and coping skills. During the counseling process you are in the driver's seat, I am just a GPS to help you on the road to better mental health. However, I'm not closed to other counseling approaches.

The most important relationship you have is the one with yourself. We all have a story. Telling your story to an attuned listener can be transformational. Healing is a collaborative endeavor. As you share your experiences and I listen, you can become more connected to yourself. I work best with clients looking to address symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety , stress management, relationship issues, and parenting problems. I believe digging deep into ourselves and learning how our early relationships in life impact our present coping strategies and feelings can help us move towards the future we want.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
