Going through any change in life is a challenge. It is typical to have feelings of doubt, uncertainty, and ambivalence when it comes to change. I truly believe that people are the expert on themselves. This allows me the opportunity to learn about each individual's unique experiences and provide an objective perspective. In doing this, it is my goal to assist each person in exploring different options to help them achieve their best self. My promise to my clients is that I walk alongside them to offer support while making those changes. Ultimately, my hope is to make myself obsolete so that you become your own therapist.

I believe that one of the goals of therapy should be for a person to see a clear path to achieving life dreams. This often occurs through in-depth self study and examination, as well as telling one's story, and becoming comfortable with that story relative to a life situation. Through therapy, an individual develops the confidence he/she needs to face life and all its complications. A variety of treatment methods may be necessary to achieve the goals of therapy and a therapist should be willing to explore options based on the individual needs of his/her clients.

Now accepting new clients! No longer a waitlist. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a pastoral background, I firmly believe that solid, Biblical counsel, along with other counseling modalities tailored to individual needs can lead to a place of "serenity" and well-being. So many factors in everyday life can take their toll on us. Thus, I believe that it is important to find someone you feel you can trust to compassionately listen to your story and help give counsel that is solid and reliable and will lead you to a positive and enriching outcome. I hope to join you on your journey towards well-being.

Does is feel like life is a treadmill and you're going over and over the same territory but never getting anywhere? Whether it's an intimate relationship that is stuck on the same issues, an addictive behavior that you can't seem to break out of, or a neurotic pattern of depression or anxiety that robes life of its joy, sometimes life can be discouraging, and trying harder in the same way brings only more frustration.

Mental Health and substance use awareness is growing more and more each day. Anyone should be welcomed with open arms to work through issues that create a dark cloud over their happiness. Working as a team and at a pace where you are comfortable is the goal that we will work to progress towards. There is not a concrete formula to happiness or managing our inner demons, but we can create one and I would be honored to help you on your journey.

Since gaining training and licensure as a Clinical Counselor, he has expanded his work to provide care to a wide variety of clients. “While many of my clients have preferred working with me because of their desire to have Biblical principles included; I also enjoy working with clients who prefer a secular approach to therapy” he says.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Certified Trauma Professional who specializes in trauma, anxiety, and depression. Rather than simply managing the symptoms, my approach aims to solve core causes that are often carried for many years. Self-criticism, people pleasing, difficulty making choices and lack of self-respecting boundaries are some of the most common issues I work with. My work is built upon the combination of self-compassion and resilience building through inner work, and has helped many of my clients see a significant improvement.

I specialize in working with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and identity development. My practice is especially affirming for LGBTQIA+ individuals and those exploring gender, neurodivergence, or major life transitions. As a trans man and actually trauma-informed therapist, I know how important it is to have a space where you can show up fully, without judgment or the need to explain who you are. I invite clients to ask questions and offer real answers, with the occasional therapy cliche. I am licensed in both Ohio and Massachusetts to provide therapy to clients.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
