I am dedicated to working with clients grappling with anxiety, depression , trauma, women's issues and LGBTQIA concerns. My shared vocations of psychotherapist and yoga therapist/teacher enable me to take a broad view of healing. As such, I am dedicated to fostering opportunities of holistic wellness by offering evidence-based psychotherapy; and when traditional psychotherapeutic treatment is not sufficient, the embodiment of yoga may be an attractive adjunctive strategy.

My expertise includes depression , anxiety disorders, and chronic illness.
I would characterize my approach to working with clients as both holistic and strength-based. I feel that achieving mental and emotional well-being and healthy relationships requires paying attention to all areas of self: the mind, body and spirit. In addition, I try to help my clients achieve mental, emotional and relational health by building on the strengths already present in their lives. I firmly believe that people have the ability to make positive changes in their lives, and I see it as my job to help clients identify and traverse the steps necessary to achieving these changes.

I have experience working with individuals and couples on issues such as: depression , anxiety, shame, personality disorders, severe mental illness, trauma, conflict resolution, sexuality, gender identity, military veteran issues, aging, parenting, marital difficulties, adjustment problems, feeling out of control, being overwhelmed, and feeling lost.
We are bombarded daily with messages of stigma, judgments, injustices, -isms, and fear. Yet, wellness is possible. I believe wellness and personal growth are best pursued within a trusting, judgment-free, safe, open, empathic, and honest therapy relationship. To build those relationships, I'm fully committed to exploring and understanding each client's perspective, background, culture, values, lifestyle, and choices. In our work together, I hope to help my clients discover their strengths and learn the skills necessary to develop lives they want to live.

You or your adolescent may be experiencing anxiety, depression , emotional sensitivity, relationship issues or difficulty focusing. I have extensive experience as a doctoral-level cognitive behavioral therapist and I believe helping individuals understand how their thoughts and behaviors contribute to intense emotions is key to mental health. Challenging unhealthy thinking and learning how to think differently can be very effective. I teach specific and diverse skills and coach people on using them in real-life situations. I often share behavioral management techniques to help clients gain control over repetitive or compulsive actions and reduce anxiety in feared situations.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
