My clients want to live richer, more emotionally balanced lives and have more fulfilling relationships. They are curious about their lives: "Is this all there is?" or "How did I get into this mess?" My clients soon realize that "going it alone in silence" is depressing and not hopeful. They see me as a trusted friend who cares about them. I see people just like you--healing from loss and grief due to the endings of relationships. I counsel parents who have
relationship
issues with their adult children. I help persons when their religion/spirituality seems to have ended. I help
couples
repair and rekindle their
relationship
.

By using a strengths-based solution focused counseling approach for individuals and
couples
, my goal is to empower clients to identify goals and strategies to solve problems.
Some seasons of life are joyful such as the anticipation of a graduation, getting married or welcoming a new baby. Other times we find ourselves in a season of adversity and become overwhelmed by our circumstances. Profound disappointment sets in and we grieve our lost dreams and unmet expectations. During these more difficult seasons, we may develop negative beliefs about ourselves or the world around us that cause further suffering. It is my desire as a counselor to provide a compassionate space where one can wrestle with these negative beliefs and begin to see life through a more hopeful lens.

I believe that the power of a positive therapeutic
relationship
can be a game-changer for anyone looking to improve their mental health. Just like exercising your body helps to strengthen your body, exercising your brain strengthens your brain. When we’re used to thinking negatively, negativity is the easiest path for our thoughts to travel. Anxiety can oftentimes stem from unhelpful thought patterns. When you’re able to untwist your thinking and reveal the truth underneath the anxiety, you are able to gain new perspective on life and its challenges.

I provide therapy to children, adults and
couples
who are seeking counseling to work through trauma, make changes, or get through a difficult situation.
Through life’s ups and downs, it is crucial for people to be seen, heard, and understood. It is through this validation that my goal is to be a consistent, constant support system for my clients through the ebbs and flows-good and bad. My contribution as a therapist is to provide a safe space for individuals to learn about themselves, explore their minds and hearts, and to challenge themselves when necessary. As for my approach, I often utilize Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as incorporating mindfulness techniques into treatment plans. I also integrate an eclectic approach to tailor to my clients needs.

Trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) has helped countless individuals,
couples
and families over the years.
Finding peace of mind during stressful times may feel impossible. Oftentimes, we seek to escape painful emotions and difficult life circumstances through drinking alcohol, gambling or illicit substance use only to find out it doesn't help to lessen the pain we feel inside.

The world is not built for kind, empathic people. It can wear you down fast and even faster without the right skills. Stress builds up and becomes anxiety: your mind runs amok with worry and doubt. You question your worth. You relive trauma- did you deserve it? Were they right about you? Why did it happen? Relationships are difficult because they require trust and vulnerability. How could a
partner
understand you when you can't? You're told finding purpose helps, but you don't know yours. Right now, there isn't even room to think about it. It's all too much. It may be too much on your own,but with guidance this can be healed

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
