I believe problems can be solved. It takes work, the ability to be open to new ideas, the willingness to stand and face problems, the wisdom to share and to rely on someone other than yourself, to offer a different perspective. No one has all the answers all the time but working together, solutions can be found.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, anxious, or simply not like yourself lately? You don’t have to navigate it alone. Therapy can be a place to pause, breathe, and begin moving forward with clarity and purpose. My goal is to create a welcoming, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and understood as we work together to uncover what’s holding you back and help you move toward the life you want to live. I am also deeply passionate about couples and marital therapy and have helped many couples improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their connection.

Immediate openings for EMDR: Have you (or your son) had trouble relating to a therapist in the past? As men, the world expects us to bottle to our emotions and trauma up; even when we know it's tearing us apart. You want to be able to express yourself in a healthy way; that doesn't interfere with your identity as a man in a world that expects you to be strong.

I currently have immediate openings for ADULT ADHD and ASD testing. This process involves an online diagnostic visit, an in-person day of testing at our North Campus location, and an online feedback session. We accept most major insurances, though be prepared that the process is often between $600 to $1500 AFTER the discount from your insurance. If you are interested, please fill out the form on our website to get started. At this time, I am not accepting new clients for regular therapy. We are currently developing the systems to be able to test younger clients, but currently do not have the tests or infrastructure.

My name is Manoli Kalouris and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio and Co-owner of Mindful Connections Counseling. I believe that therapists aren’t one-size-fits-all, and that the therapeutic relationship plays a vital role in achieving your ultimate potential for healing and growth. That is why I like to take a casual approach while using evidence-based practices and find that this makes clients the most comfortable beginning a not so comfortable process of therapy.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
