My ideal client is the client that is willing to do the mental and emotional work that a therapeutic relationship requires, regardless of the issue they are bringing. These clients are desirous of change and growth and have some degree of motivation to achieve them. They want to understand themselves better in order to develop and maintain healthy relationships with themselves and others. They commit their time and energy to themselves and the process and are respectful of my time.

I help clients seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and desire to live more authentically. Examples of issues I’ve helped clients with are: navigating trauma, struggling with self-esteem, exploring gender or sexual identity, or working to improve communication in your relationships. I strive to create a safe, affirming space where clients can process difficult experiences, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop tools for emotional resilience. I help clients to feel more confident, empowered, and aligned with their values—because they want to build a life that reflects who they truly are.

I work with individuals in their teens/20s/30s navigating through life transitions, anxiety, depression, anger, relationships, and challenges with self-esteem just to name a few. If this is something you are experiencing, please reach out to schedule! I believe that everyone deserves a space where they can feel heard, supported, and be empowered to make meaningful changes that I know we all have the ability to do. With experience in crisis counseling I know how easy it can be for our lives to be flipped onto the side. Using a collaborative and compassionate approach, you can get back to a place of stability for long-term change.

My job as a therapist is to help you find your path, discover what is blocking you from taking that first step and supporting you in the journey. It can be hard work, but together we can make positive changes that will impact you and your loved ones for many years to come. I own Hearthstone Psychology and am so proud of our clinical staff. If I am not available I will be happy to hand pick a clinician that can support you in your journey.

This wild world; let's talk it out and help each other. I don't know how anyone could do it alone these days. It takes volumes of stories, skills, and spirit to be you. Everyone can benefit from therapy, a designated person and time to sit down and unfold the many arenas of your life, to examine your strengths, weaknesses, fears and hopes, and see how to be happy. I work with people dealing with trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, and relationship issues using EMDR, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, and meditation. Let's chat and see what we can do :)

You're a Caregiver on the cusp of burnout. You're struggling to know and identify your own wants/needs. You want to start setting boundaries but don't know where to start. You're over-stimulated and finding it hard to co-regulate in an environment of kids, endless demands, and a growing mental load. You find yourself at a crossroads in your romantic relationship/marriage and need a safe, non-judgmental space to sort out what to do next. If any of this resonates with you, you're not alone and deserve to have clarity, peace, and support in your journey.

Sex-Positive, Kink Allied Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
A sex-positive or kinky individual may want to see a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist because the client may feel safer and more supported discussing their experiences and challenges. A therapist who identifies as kink-friendly will have experience with clients having diverse sexual preferences and will likely be nonjudgmental and supportive about issues brought to the table. It is important to note that sex-positive, kink-allied individuals may find equal success with therapists who do not have such specialized knowledge and background. The most important factor in the success of therapy is for the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond.

Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in sex-positive, kink-allied treatment?
Generally, no. There are limited training programs and unofficial accreditations that therapists can pursue, but a therapist’s expertise will ultimately come from their previous experience with similar clients, their engagement with organizations that promote sex positivity or kink-allied lifestyles, and the importance they place on safety and cultural sensitivity.

How can individuals recognize a good sex-positive, kink-allied therapist?
An experienced therapist is able to help clients explore their sexual identity and expression and relieve any discomfort or stigma attached to discussing such matters and the client’s overall challenges. A therapist who is sex-positive and kink-allied is able to create an environment that honors a client’s experience and sexual preferences. To recognize a good therapist, clients can simply ask directly about topics and issues important to them and gauge their comfort level and connection with a clinician based on the responses.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist with a focus on sex positivity and alternative sexual lifestyles?
Some individuals may feel most comfortable knowing that the clinician they’re working with has a commitment to creating an atmosphere of sex positivity and has experience with relationship diversity and alternative relationship structures. Working with a sex-positive, kink-allied therapist may help clients respect their own challenges and improve identity-affirming treatment.
