As we navigate our lives, we develop beliefs about ourself through our experiences. These beliefs have powerful effects on our sense of belonging, our attempts to receive love and affection, and our desires for intimacy. Feeling accepted and valued can result in a sense of self that approaches life with trust, confidence and flexibility. When difficult events arise, or we feel rejected and mistreated, the way we view ourself and our efficacy can be impacted. While we cannot change the experiences of our life, we can rewrite the meaning we assign to those experiences and free ourself from the associated distress.

Do you feel weighed down by memories that won’t let go, anxiety that keeps your body on high alert, or the pressure to hold it all together when you’re running on empty? Maybe you’ve spent years serving others—whether on the frontlines, in the hospital, or at home—yet inside you feel exhausted, disconnected, or stuck. You may long for peace, balance, and a way to trust yourself again. Together, we can untangle the pain of past experiences, calm the overwhelm, and build tools that help you feel grounded, resilient, and able to thrive instead of just survive.

Becoming a parent can be simultaneously the most rewarding and most challenging time in your life. You may be struggling with conception, or you just gave birth and are experiencing scary and debilitating depression or anxiety, or maybe you’ve lost who you are in all the roles you’re playing (mother, partner, employee) and you want to find yourself again without feeling guilty about it. Or maybe nothing is “wrong” but everything still sucks. I specialize in treating all facets of maternal mental health & wellness, from Millennial/Generation Z life transitions, to conception, infertility and loss, through pregnancy and postpartum.

I work from an eclectic, psychodynamic approach grounded in feminist and intersectional frameworks.
Living is a complex, often beautiful, yet difficult experience. Though many assume being human should be intuitive, managing our internal world is complicated. Most of us were not taught how to navigate heavy emotions (grief, sadness, apathy, anger) or systemic weights (microaggressions, financial instability). We were taught to prioritize productivity and isolation over regulation and collaboration.

We all experience obstacles in life that can be difficult to maneuver. Sometimes, this can leave us feeling stuck. Other times, the skills that we use to keep us safe and help us cope become the very things that create challenges in our lives. As someone who has struggled through many of life’s transitions myself, I know that the work of change isn’t always easy. My vision for therapy is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment that allows each person to feel seen, heard, understood, and accepted.

As a 1.5 generation immigrant woman in an intercultural marriage, I bring a lived understanding of navigating multiple cultural identities. These personal experiences deeply inform my work and help me create a space that is empathetic, inclusive, and attuned to the complexities of identity and belonging. I'm especially passionate about working with adult children of immigrants, BIPOC individuals, and couples from mixed cultural backgrounds. That said, my practice is open to anyone seeking support — whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, or healing from trauma.

I am a strength-based, integrative therapist who focuses on building resiliency and healing in adults, teens, and elderly clients. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I base my therapeutic approach on the Japanese concept of “Kintsugi” which means “finding strength in imperfection”. When clients are willing to work toward healing from the things that have “broken them” they often become stronger, more resilient, and happier as a result.

Life can be hard sometimes and everything may feel like a struggle. I get it. Mental health matters. Working through trauma or anxiety or depression matters. You wouldn’t ignore a broken bone, right? I truly love my work and consider it an honor to be in a growth journey with my clients. I help my clients get to a place where life feels better, sometimes lighter, sometimes calmer. There is no one size fits all and everything is custom to need. I also offer walk/talk options in a park like setting, which is a great method for healing and health.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
