My primary passion is helping people heal from trauma as an EMDR therapist. I am so moved by the courage of my clients. I am amazed at our capacity for healing and am profoundly honored to assist in a process that is both so deeply painful and so joyful in recovery. I also work with clients on other issues like depression, anxiety, women's issues, life transitions, boundaries, communication and relationships. I have completed my Level III Board Certification in Telehealth because I want to be able to help people all across Ohio, not just those who can come to my office in person.

My ideal client is the client that is willing to do the mental and emotional work that a therapeutic relationship requires, regardless of the issue they are bringing. These clients are desirous of change and growth and have some degree of motivation to achieve them. They want to understand themselves better in order to develop and maintain healthy relationships with themselves and others. They commit their time and energy to themselves and the process and are respectful of my time.

My counseling style is welcoming and empathetic, and it's important to me that you feel comfortable, supported, and empowered during our time together. It's my intention to treat all my clients as unique individuals who are deserving of unconditional acceptance, regardless of their individual circumstances or struggles. It's my belief that meaning, while a slippery concept, is best explored through the lens of human connection. For me, it's an honor to accompany others on their healing journeys, and I will hold space for your pain while helping you access your own inner wisdom.

You're experiencing a significant life transition. Maybe you're navigating coming out as LGBTQ, supporting a loved one in their LGBTQ identity while managing your own emotions, or feeling overwhelmed as you enter into parenthood. Maybe you are experiencing anxiety and/or depression and are wanting a space where you know your sexual orientation and gender identity will be affirmed for you to feel safe. You need someone who truly gets what you are going through, not just someone who's read about it in textbooks.

My work focuses on supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, and the emotional transition into motherhood.
You love your baby yet some days you catch yourself thinking, “Why didn’t anyone tell me it could feel like this?!” Motherhood can bring sleepless nights, constant pressure, and emotions you didn’t expect. You might feel overwhelmed, touched-out, anxious, or like the version of you before motherhood has disappeared. You don’t have to carry all of this alone. Therapy can be a space where you feel seen, supported, and slowly reconnect with yourself while learning how to navigate this new season of motherhood.

I also specialize in Perinatal Mental Health.
Your life feels heavy, hopeless, chaotic and out of control. Your mind is racing, you're exhausted from people-pleasing and your self-confidence is at an all-time low. Anxiety, depression, and stress are ruling your life, and it feels as if you may never feel peace again. You struggle with guilt, comparison, and nothing ever feels like it is enough. You have thoughts that you could never say out loud to friends and family, all the while desperate for support. You need to find yourself. Maybe you know God, maybe you are in question about who God is, or maybe it hurts to even think about God. There's so much you need to sort out.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
