I strive to actively listen to the concerns and needs of people seeking help for their situation. It is through the act of listening that I can learn the dynamics that each person is working through. Helping an individual overcome and work through those dynamics is what I try to do each session. This also includes helping someone create better direction for themselves by creating realistic goals within a practical timeline. I approach their situation with common sense and empathy to help guide them towards their stated goals.

My primary passion is helping people heal from trauma as an EMDR therapist. I am so moved by the courage of my clients. I am amazed at our capacity for healing and am profoundly honored to assist in a process that is both so deeply painful and so joyful in recovery. I also work with clients on other issues like depression, anxiety, women's issues, life transitions, boundaries, communication and relationships. I have completed my Level III Board Certification in Telehealth because I want to be able to help people all across Ohio, not just those who can come to my office in person.

My ideal clients are individuals who have had a hard time with coping with intense emotions due to life stressors or trauma. I believe what brings people to therapy is they are searching for answers and wanting to understand themselves better. I practice from an empathetic, non-judgmental, and supportive view point and believe that everyone has the strength within them to overcome and live a long fulfilling life. We will work together to process and rise above.

I do my best work with adults who are tired of codeswitching, masking, shrinking or carrying trauma alone. Maybe you want a space where you can simply be - where your identity doesn't need explaining and your experience is taken seriously. I provide trauma-informed, anti-oppressive therapy that affirms neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ adults, supporting you in noticing your needs, trusting your own wisdom, and living more fully and authentically.

You've done the reading. You've tried the coping skills. You've held it together for everyone else. And still there's something underneath that hasn't moved. Maybe it's a betrayal you can't stop replaying. A relationship that ended you in ways you haven't been able to name. A version of yourself you gave away so gradually you didn't notice until she was gone. Or a body that carries something your words haven't caught up to yet. My office is the one hour a week where you don't have to manage how you come across. Where we can talk about what actually happened, the shame, the pain, the anger, the parts of yourself you've hidden.

I'm in my tenth year as a professional counselor, and have wide ranging experience from working in domestic violence crisis response, community mental health, college counseling centers, and specialized private practices for EMDR and sex therapy.
You honor your vows, but do you honor your needs? Silence in the bedroom doesn’t mean peace—it often means pain that’s never been voiced. In therapy I will get you talking about what you want and don't want in the bedroom. It doesn't have to be awkward. Imagine yourself talking confidently about sex. I can get you there!

I work specifically with couples who have discovered infidelity. Couples are traumatized when infidelity is discovered and the clinician needs to help the couple implement immediate steps to prevent further damage to the relationship. Counselor strategies for infidelity are much different than what a traditional counselor would utilize. When couples set up an appointment with me, they will get in quickly, and experience a specific treatment approach for infidelity. I also help couples with creating intimate communication, conflict skills, creating emotional and sexual intimacy, and increasing love and affection.

I enjoy working with people who are struggling with Trauma, Narcissistic abuse, Mood and Personality disorders.
Accepting New Clients May 2026. My ideal client is an insightful adult navigating anxiety, depression, relational trauma, identity shifts, or existential questions. They may feel stuck in repetitive relationship patterns, burdened by internalized shame, or unsure of their role as partner, parent, or professional. They want clarity about their desire, relief from self-doubt, and a deeper understanding of how childhood experiences shape present struggles. They seek lasting change—not quick fixes—and the freedom to live more authentically.

A bit about me: my master’s degree is in Social Work, and before I fully transitioned to coaching my career as a helping professional revolved around sexual and intimate partner violence (both victim services and offender treatment).
My name is Bill Arnold and I use he/him pronouns. Clinically speaking I would still claim an existential-humanist base, but over the years my work has become increasingly trauma-centered. Specifically, I find myself currently moved to focus on complex trauma, attachment wounds, and relational healing. My clients usually have some pain that’s gotten stuck over the course of their lives. The work varies with the individual, but it generally proceeds by entering into relationship and increasingly coming to relate to oneself with the same kind of loving kindness that one experiences in session.

Domestic Abuse Therapists
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
